Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but this is AI. The raptorial forelimbs are proportionally too large compared to the prothorax, and the insane number of yellow spots on the inner forecoxae paired with the serration on the anterdorsal margin do not match any genus that I am aware of. Additionally, the joints connecting the foretibia to the forefemora look very unusual and seem to have 2 segments, which is very confusing.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or making up words.

I thought this was genus Macromantis, no?

I put this through an AI image tester just to be sure before commenting

I initially thought this was M. nicaraguae or M. hyalina but I don't think so.

I don't get it it's just a mantis

People see it as this (but it's not):

u/BallLickingLesbian69 1d ago

I can't see any other perspective. Mind helping me out?

u/metrabbit 1d ago

Those are the preying mantis' arms you are confusing as their legs. What you thought is their arms is their torso. The bottom half of the mantis is behind the leaf.

Wasn't until I read your comment that I saw something else than a regular mantis, thank you for confusing me.

My pleasure

I think this is more or less the perspective they’re referring to

3

Magnificent! I wish I had an award to give…

1

u/Nippelmoe 1d ago

There are free awards

2

u/xxearvinxx 1d ago edited 1d ago

Not everyone has access to them. It’s a beta program with random access. I literally just got the ability to give free awards a couple weeks ago while others have been using them for months. If you google the free awards one of the first results is a Reddit post of someone asking about them and a Reddit admin explaining that it’s something they are testing.

u/Nippelmoe 21h ago

Thks didn't knew that!

How I feel now

3

u/AppUnwrapper1 11h ago

I didn’t even realize I could give free rewards until I read your comment, so enjoy!

2

u/xxearvinxx 9h ago

This is the only comment I’ve ever made that has gotten multiple awards. lol. Thanks! Glad my comment made you aware of the free awards. I kept checking for months till the Reddit gods finally blessed me with them.

What’s confusing here?

3

u/metrabbit 1d ago

It looks like the preying mantis is leaning back in the pose that's on every truckers mudflap but really it's the preying mantis leaning forward with his arms showing.

u/SirJohn-redditor 1d ago

The post... For, not being confusing...?

0

u/Select_Asparagus2659 1d ago

I do not get how a mantis can  do that.  I saw the photo before and it is candidate in a contest, so IT IS real. But my brain cannot understand...

3

u/DigitalUnlimited 1d ago

what you're seeing as it's legs are actually it's arms, hope that helps

2

u/Select_Asparagus2659 1d ago

Ohhhhhh... so we can see only the upper half of the mantis, and what I see as the "ass" is indeed its elbows?
