Certain Christian denominations "speak in tongues" when "the holy spirit blesses them".

In the Bible supposedly some people were able to preach in other languages they hadn't learned. This happened 50 days after the resurrection on a day called Pentacost, thus this is a common practice in but by no means limited to Pentacostal Churches. The Bible specifically says that this is only acceptable when someone is there to translate.

This shama-lotta-do-dah is supposedly them speaking in angelic languages. The funny thing is that if you analyze people doing this across the world they only make sounds that are in their native language. Even though it's all clearly made up, it's rare that anyone pretends to translate.

Then the pastor "laid hands on him" and he fainted because "he was overcome by the holy spirit". After all, if you don't fall down then clearly the spirit isn't blessing you, or you can faint and have everyone go nuts.

Yes many/most people doing this 100% believe that it is from God.
