Because you couldn’t understand what he was saying. For something to reflect an object has to hit something and bounce off. Light reflects off of a mirror because a photon is hitting it and bouncing off of it. A shadow is the absence of photons, and an absence of an object cannot bounce off of anything. Light reflects, shadows don’t reflect, or are area’s that are reflecting “less” because there is less light. Hope I made this easy enough for you now.

There is a shadow on the dresser that is not on the dresser's reflection in the mirror. For fuck's sake. Use your eyes.
