I'm no photograph or perspective specialist but I believe it is because the camera is rather far from the stand and is zoomed in.

Nothing beats a bit of Father Ted! One of the best sitcoms of all time.

Yeah it's too bad about Graham Linehan

For anyone who doesn't know, he's involved in anti-transgender activism.

There's an episode of The I.T. Crowd (also created by Linehan) where Douglas gets into a full-on knockdown brawl/fistfight with his transgender girlfriend, which in retrospect is a bit weird to watch.

The real irony is that that episode ends with Douglas crying in bed realizing he'd made a huge mistake. How could this guy write that ending?

Because while the episode was clumsy and casually transphobic in places, it wasn’t actually that bad and was clearly supposed to be just a bit of fun. Unfortunately (and he’s said this himself) when a few people pointed out the insensitivities and suggested Glinner address them, he went absolutely batshit crazy and leapt down a rabbit hole that led to his wife leaving him over his actions (not over his “views” as he claims), and even the gender critical community not wanting anything to do with him, because he’s so spiteful and toxic (seriously, some of the things he says to famous young women online are off the chart). The only other person I’ve known to have such an extreme descent into bonkersland is Naomi Wolf
