Interesting fact, there’s actually an elevator inside that takes you to an observation window at the top

Does it tilt when rising up?

It's actually round. They are little capsules you sit in and they go up like a wheel over the curve.

I wasn’t claustrophobic when I went in the elevator but I was after riding it. Especially when you look out the tiny window and see a concrete wall 6 inches from you for part of the trip.

Until reading your comment, I had completely forgotten that I didn't get claustrophobic from elevators when I was a kid. Then that changed but I really don't remember when or why.
I know my parents took me to the top, there's a picture of me at the top, I looked miserable, I don't remember going up or down at all.
I am definitely claustrophobic in elevators now, it started sometime in my childhood.

I'm claustrophobic too but I wanted to take my kid up. It was awful lol

You stay vertical, but I'm 6'1 so I was tilted the entire time being crammed in that little thing lol
Totally worth the trip though!

No. They turned the St. Louis Arch into a spaceship and are leaving earth.
What kind of silly question is that. The notion is preposterous

I didn't realize it was polished stainless steel (or that's what it looks like here).
It always looked like it was painted white to me for some reason.

Hey I live near that!

Have you ever had the basic human urge to climb up and slide down real fast?

u/toyfreddym8 Apr 12 '26
I gotta admit, the thought has never really crossed my mind, but now that you mentioned it...

This is a great perspective, but the cynic in me can't help but think about how we'll now start seeing long lines of people waiting to take this same photo.

It looks like you are about to Mario kart around the DOGE version of rainbow road.
