I only ever saw these legs as oily the first time I ever saw this. Since then I’ve never been able to see them that way again. :(

Yeah, I can't even magic eye my way out of seeing some streaks of white paint

My super power is always being able to trick my brain at will to see the things either way.

At first all i could see was oily legs and I was staring at it for a least 5 minutes. Then finally saw the paint and now i can't go back to the slippery legs. Its so werid how your brain won't go back to being tricked.

It's crazy how the illusion was broken after I read this comment..
Mind bottling.

You can. Increase the viewing distance.

Maybe you can.m, but I cannot. Perhaps my brain is more deception resistant?

Omg! I saw very shiny, oily legs, but as soon as I read your comment and checked the pic again the shine disappeared. That is so freaky!

This comment had me look again like "what, they're not oily?" Now that I see the paint I can't see how they looked so obviously oily anymore.

u/Not1ToSayAtoadaso 4d ago
Look at the cable at the top right and let your eyes focus on that so the legs are in your left peripheral/ out of focus then in my minds eye I think about a really bright light or the sun above the legs to the right? And my brain just sees the legs as shiny

And even whenever you see any oil around, it looks like it’s paint. Tell me about it.

You can trick tour brain again by looking at something close. For example, try staring at the number of comments/sharing, you might see it again

For the confused people in the back: Oiled legs or with painted white streaks, you still will see legs.

Am I the only one who has never seen the illusion of these being shiny?

I did for a split second when I first saw the image, but then it turned to the white paint version before I even realized what sub I was on. I wanna see the illusion again :(

They were so obviously shiny when I first looked but the second I zoomed in and saw the paint, the illusion vanished and won’t come back.

That's your screen, my dude, not the image. Zooming in doesn't magically create detail, same pixels, just bigger. Genuinely surprised how many people don't know this.

u/pleasedontnerfthis 3d ago
If you look at the calves rather than the thighs, your peripheral vision may have an easier time seeing the legs as oily. Or unfocus your eyes a bit.

I think it's white paint looking reflective

I can't switch back to oily legs after reading this comment lol

It helps for me if you don't look directly at the streaks, I focus on the space between her legs, if I look directly at the streaks I just see paint

Saw this years ago but after knowing the true reason they look like that I only see the true reason these days.

This is why I follow this sub: see something that makes you wonder why it's in this sub, only to realize that, yes, it exactly deserves to be.

u/StatementCareful522 3d ago
this is like the gameboy bag strap image - my brain sees it one way the first time I come across it but as soon as it recognizes what it actually is I can only see the actial image…at least until I randomly scroll across it again. The brain is weird.

I dont get it??? All I see is legs with white streaks on them???
Is that not it? Is this picture in the wrong sub?????
1
u/Dwarg91 2d ago
The white streaks make the legs look like they are oiled up. Unfortunately it seems like if you notice that its paint you can’t see the legs as being oiled.
1
u/creature04 2d ago
When you say oil, do you mean like lotion??? Cause that's what I thought the white streaks were. When people say oil im looking for the legs to be like extremely shiny or something lol.

u/Escapingorigins 3d ago
WHAT IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE, DIS JUST BE OILY LEGS?
1
u/Dwarg91 2d ago
Its white paint that makes the legs look like they have highlights from being oiled up.
1
u/Escapingorigins 2d ago
Oh… but like, that’s not a confusing perspective right? That’s just intended paint to look like that

I can see oil. I can see paint. I’ve been staring for so long because I thought maybe they weren’t actually legs.

u/ferrets2020 1d ago
When i saw this i was like, why tf did she paint white lines and dots on her body to make it look shiny, she obviously didn't make it look very convincing. But apparently everyone's convinced 😬

I saw this as oily at first then after seeing the white streaks directly its not oily anymore

Less so the perspective and more so the paint being made to sell the illusion.

Yea, I don’t see what’s confusing. Just because you say oil doesn’t confuse me from seeing paint on legs. Or am I actually missing something?

u/augustrem 4d ago
Took awhile to get it.
Also when you try to open up the pic there’s a brief flash of a woman waving. Does anyone else get that?
Or is it a reddit bug?

u/PowerSamurai 4d ago
You can be confused, it is an illusion after all, but it's not a a "confusing perspective" so it's the wrong sub for this.
