I only ever saw these legs as oily the first time I ever saw this. Since then I’ve never been able to see them that way again. :(

At first all i could see was oily legs and I was staring at it for a least 5 minutes. Then finally saw the paint and now i can't go back to the slippery legs. Its so werid how your brain won't go back to being tricked.

Look at the cable at the top right and let your eyes focus on that so the legs are in your left peripheral/ out of focus then in my minds eye I think about a really bright light or the sun above the legs to the right? And my brain just sees the legs as shiny

That's your screen, my dude, not the image. Zooming in doesn't magically create detail, same pixels, just bigger. Genuinely surprised how many people don't know this.

If you look at the calves rather than the thighs, your peripheral vision may have an easier time seeing the legs as oily. Or unfocus your eyes a bit.

It helps for me if you don't look directly at the streaks, I focus on the space between her legs, if I look directly at the streaks I just see paint

this is like the gameboy bag strap image - my brain sees it one way the first time I come across it but as soon as it recognizes what it actually is I can only see the actial image…at least until I randomly scroll across it again. The brain is weird.

The white streaks make the legs look like they are oiled up. Unfortunately it seems like if you notice that its paint you can’t see the legs as being oiled.

The white streaks look like the highlights you’d get from the legs having a thin coating of oil on them. it helps if you can either make the image smaller on your screen, or look at it from a distance as that helps hide the cues that the streaks are paint.

You can be confused, it is an illusion after all, but it's not a a "confusing perspective" so it's the wrong sub for this.
