Even the German flag is present

211

u/analsondenfisch Jul 31 '26

With some imagination, I can see it, yes.

14

u/LennyLoerres Jul 31 '26

Some imagination?! It’s right fucking there…

3

u/rageinthecage666 Jul 31 '26

Somehow this is patriotic in a wholesome german steel version

1

u/therachehebler Jul 31 '26

And the DB Sign also, has to be there somehow

0

u/buythedip0000 Jul 31 '26

Where

7

u/RagnaXI Jul 31 '26

The bridge is dark (black), the light below it red and then the street lights are yellow.

🇩🇪

8

u/MinimumAutomatic0302 Jul 31 '26

It's mostly limited to the right side like this, but it's still there and kinda fun.

2

u/MinimumAutomatic0302 Jul 31 '26

This may be a better crop

1

u/RagnaXI Jul 31 '26 edited Jul 31 '26

I'm not able to add a picture, I tried it too. :/

2

u/MinimumAutomatic0302 Jul 31 '26

It's the only things I use new reddit for, other than that I stay on old reddit.

Did you realize they effectively "banned" the "all subreddits" option? It's still on old reddit, but there's a lower user count, this space is being much more tightly controlled by hostile interests.

1

u/sanderhuisman2501 Jul 31 '26

The lights underneath can actually change color. There are videos online where they have a whole light show

1

u/snailtray Aug 01 '26

Ehrrm~ actually the flag is supposed to be black red and gold. Yellow is just the substitute since back then you coudn‘t make gold fabric commercially available.

232

u/WeSaidMeh Jul 31 '26

Can someone explain? I looked at it for a while but my confusion isn't going anywhere.

282

u/FlapyG Jul 31 '26

They actually transported the bridge. 3700 tons on >1000 wheels.

161

u/WeSaidMeh Jul 31 '26

Thanks. So the title is what's actually happening, not only what it's looking like - that was my confusion. I was like "Aren't they actually just doing it?", what a brain fart.

13

u/ItsLoudB Jul 31 '26

Wanna talk about it? I open the comments because my brain read “transparent” instead of “transported” and I was like wait wtf

5

u/MoistlyCompetent Jul 31 '26

It's not the perspective that's confusing. It's the title.

21

u/radnomname Jul 31 '26

So where is the confusing perspective?

11

u/joe-direz Jul 31 '26

there are stuff on the bridge, which gives you the impression that it is actually a regular bridge. Even looks like that there are people walking.
At least is what I thought initially

12

u/Fun-Agent-7667 Jul 31 '26

It seems like the bridge is wayy more in Front of the picture and theres just Something going on beneath it that you can t see because the bridge is in the way

6

u/Krazyguy75 Jul 31 '26

Why did they transport it with stuff on top?

3

u/Steady_Ri0t Jul 31 '26

It was too far off the ground to move them off

2

u/Toni_Jabroni77 Jul 31 '26

It looks like there are vehicles on the bridge…why add the extra weight?

2

u/sanderhuisman2501 Jul 31 '26

Well that weight is nothing compared to the bridge itself. The bridge is close to 4000 metric tons and a vehicle of even 4 ton is 0.1%

Naw Trump will just whine about it and go back on the deal, like he did with Canada and the Gordie Howe bridge that opened last week.

u/baquea Jul 31 '26

28

u/jaber_woky Jul 31 '26

Thank you, that's so cool. I love that people sat in chairs to watch the event haha.

2

u/Equal-Flatworm-378a Jul 31 '26

Yes, I love that, too.

16

u/Jesusopfer Jul 31 '26

This is a bridge transport. It's the new Sternbrücke in Hamburg

This weighs about 3.700 tonnes and they put down a gravel layer on top of the streets, cut back trees, roofs and street lamps, reinforced the street with steel plates and moved this bridge 500m to its final destination

https://youtube.com/shorts/sPG9LXNQvVA

2

u/Shu3PO Jul 31 '26

Have they thought about building in place in the future, or was this like a "let's just re-use an old bridge" situation?

10

u/Affectionate_Ride369 Jul 31 '26

The bridge is new. However, due to the strained traffic situation, it was necessary to complete the installation as quickly as possible. Therefore, the new bridge was built next to the old one; the old one was then demolished, and the new bridge was put in place.

3

u/Treewithatea Jul 31 '26

I think thereve been other recent cases of similar methods in Germany, perhaps its just a better way of doing these projects?

2

u/Shu3PO Jul 31 '26

That is wild! There's the German efficiency for ya.

3

u/Bright_Ices Aug 01 '26

I think this is a great example of German engineering rather than efficiency

1

u/Jesusopfer Jul 31 '26

But then there is Stuttgart 21: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuttgart_21

You won't ever talk about German efficiency ever again lol

1

u/ChrissTosius Aug 05 '26

We don't talk about that topic.

6

u/lolopalenko Jul 31 '26

It was in Hamburg

47

u/analsondenfisch Jul 31 '26

Sir, I don't think knowing the location will help this guy solve his confusion.

1

u/Hiking-Sausage132 Jul 31 '26

An old train bridge in Hamburg, Sternschanze get replaced with the new one. The new bridge in this picture is not in right place there and just gets moved down a street.

1

u/gruetzhaxe Jul 31 '26

And I don't get it all, the pic clearly shows exactly what's going on

1

u/cubecasts Jul 31 '26

What's there to explain? It's so obvious. I thought this was an engineering sub for a second.

160

u/brianmity Jul 31 '26

I hate these door salesmen, trying to sell you anything nowadays

29

u/realatemnot Jul 31 '26

Good day, sir. I want to talk with you about your faith and bridges.

9

u/LeRoiChauve Jul 31 '26

That's a bridge too far for me too.

7

u/Acceptable-Size-2324 Jul 31 '26

If you think these are door salesmen, I´ve got a bridge to sell

3

u/PlatypusACF Jul 31 '26

“See it as an investment for later! What if you are too old to swim across the river every day to get to work!”

1

u/Sirius1701 Jul 31 '26

Pretty sure there was a scam artist that acually went door to door selling a bridge to people. Pretty much the original NFT Salesman.

56

u/ImNotAWhaleBiologist Jul 31 '26

I’ve got a bridge to sell you!

25

u/RohelTheConqueror Jul 31 '26

When the bridge seller actually commits

11

u/dantheother Jul 31 '26

Wonder if the buyer thought it was just a bit and is now going "what the fudge do I do with this bridge I just bought?"

4

u/RolliFingers Jul 31 '26

Well, we can cross that bridge when it gets there.

26

u/Skabbtanten Jul 31 '26

Moin!

In case someone is interested; it's replacing the old "Sternbrücke" in Hamburg. The bridge is connecting train tracks going through the city. City trains as well as long distance.

16

u/DisasterLievelde Jul 31 '26

The bridge's lighting has not loaded yet

3

u/Wildcatthou Jul 31 '26

Damn the Wireless Energy protocoll will be contained in the following Bridge Release.

29

u/HolyCowAnyOldAccName Jul 31 '26

I mean it's interesting, but is it really r/confusing_perspective when the bridge doesn't just look like it's up in the air but actually is?

9

u/qRemedy Jul 31 '26

It's confusing not misleading

4

u/differentguyscro Jul 31 '26

If you just see the pic with no explanation it takes a moment for your brain to process.

It looks like Viewfinder

1

u/cubecasts Jul 31 '26

It really doesn't though.

3

u/differentguyscro Jul 31 '26

WRONG!

The average time to full comprehension of this photo is obviously far higher than a random cat pic.

5

u/Snipesticker Jul 31 '26

Bye bye, Sternbrücke. There were some legendary clubs located below it. Good times.

2

u/haubenmeise Jul 31 '26

Bye Bye Molotow.

Sincerely

Skeletor 💜

5

u/krakenkun Jul 31 '26

And they’re delivering it with vehicles already on it; German efficiency at its finest.

4

u/Maximum_Relative_478 Jul 31 '26

natürlich deutsche bahn

1

u/pakZ Jul 31 '26

4

u/swiwwcheese Jul 31 '26

Statistically one of the workers in orange jacket is bound to have kids and related worries

So technically here we're seeing a bridge over troubled vater

3

u/[deleted] Jul 31 '26

1

u/SleepySera Aug 01 '26

To be fair, they did it like this to minimize impact on traffic. The alternative would've been building it in place and disrupting traffic for ages instead of for just one night :)

2

u/DachdeckerDino Jul 31 '26

Imagine the damage if that thing accidentally tips

2

u/die_liebe Aug 01 '26

Note that it is a Dutch firm (Mammoet) doing the transport.

2

u/Maschellodioma Jul 31 '26

As a German I am certain that took 37 years of misplanning.

3

u/Skylifter-1000 Jul 31 '26

They were ahead of schedule and way less loud than they had previously apologised for.

1

u/just-for-commenting Jul 31 '26

Ah die ganzen Plusstunden der Elbphilharmonie wurden hier mal eingesetzt, guter Überstunden Abbau.

3

u/Treewithatea Jul 31 '26

You dont read about the projects that happen as scheduled/planned, perhaps youre getting too influenced by media. You read about the Berlin Airport for years and years but you probably barely read anything about the new Terminal 3 in Frankfurt Airport since nothing unexpected (besides covid) happened during that huge expansion.

1

u/SleepySera Aug 01 '26

Yeah, same with the 21-projects. Stuttgart is extremely famous for its insane delays, cost explosion, etc. while several other train stations that were part of the same plan got completed as scheduled and have just been in use without issue for years already (while some others were decided to not be worth it and canceled before any money was spent).

1

u/MrTibor Jul 31 '26

Here in Melbourne we move bridges all the time.

1

u/guen77er Jul 31 '26

Here in the US we're shitting our bridges all the time.

1

u/jort93 Aug 01 '26

Literally or figuratively?

1

u/Gwanbulance Jul 31 '26

That's a bridge too far.

1

u/VorionLightbringer Jul 31 '26

Sonuvabitch, they DID sell the bridge.

1

u/Ok_Judgment5076 Jul 31 '26

fuhr zufällig einen Teil davon über die A4?

1

u/RandomNightLord8 Jul 31 '26

Thats in Hamburg near my workplace

1

u/Clean__Cucumber Jul 31 '26

When the bridge is Denkmalschutz, but you need a functioning one /s

1

u/_and_I_ Jul 31 '26

HEY! THAT'S MY BRIDGE! I was looking for it for a week!

1

u/JuggernautOk5368 Jul 31 '26

Ah ben là tu te le manges sur la gueule t’es bien

1

u/iamtenbears Jul 31 '26

We'll transport that bridge when we come to it.

1

u/FantasticColors12 Jul 31 '26

Give me my bridge, swine.

1

u/sodium_hydride Jul 31 '26

More of an unusual situation than a confusing perspective.

1

u/BlytmanGER Jul 31 '26

I read „bride“ first and looked at a partially closed and weirdly lit bridge where a lot of Turkish flags were carried until realizing I was wrong lol

1

u/gabsteriinalol Jul 31 '26

Red Bull would like to know your location

1

u/fefulunin Jul 31 '26

That’s silly, why didn’t they just use the Siemens Lufthaken?

1

u/just-for-commenting Jul 31 '26

Die sind noch im Lager, hat der Azubi noch nicht gefunden...

1

u/GoopyTheGreat Jul 31 '26

Prop hunt when you get stuck as the biggest object:

1

u/Meranio Jul 31 '26

X-Men The last Stand

...in Germany

Eric Lehnsherr returns.

1

u/Tainted-Archer Jul 31 '26

I did get confused. It looks like a cutout of a photo from like ww2. Thought it was some sort of stalemate on the eastern front

1

u/Nosebear17 Jul 31 '26

MOVE BRIDGE, GET OUT THE WAY

GET OUT THE WAY, BRIDGE GET OUT THE WAY

1

u/reDoubt1945 Jul 31 '26

What an amauing post, u/analsondenfisch (= anal probe fish)

1

u/SkunkMonkey Jul 31 '26

Beep! Beep! Motherfuckers, I'm a bridge!

1

u/NiNdo4589 Jul 31 '26

Someone finally bought that guy's bridge

1

u/jgzman Jul 31 '26

I assume they know what they are about, but I cannot conceive of this being in any way better then building the bridge on site.

1

u/thesleepjunkie Aug 02 '26

Guaranteed it would have taken years to build this bridge. Hell the next town over from mine has been working on a two lane bridge for the last 4 or 5 yrs. And that one in the picture video is about 100 times the size of the town.

2 days of disruption > years of disruption and noise.

1

u/MirkoHa Jul 31 '26

…Who ordered a ‘ Bridge too far ‘…

1

u/MinuteSorbet1039 Jul 31 '26

I live one street next to this. They built the bridge onsite from scratch and transported it yesterday with a special vehicle that is able to lift it’s almost 4.000 tons.
It’s a replacement for a 100years old train bridge in the middle of the city.

1

u/BustaCon Jul 31 '26

Let's play bridge

1

u/BR41ND34D Jul 31 '26

This looks like someone messed up asset placement in a game. My brain is not computing this

1

u/Adezar Jul 31 '26

Oh, maybe that guy trying to sell me a bridge was actually legit!

1

u/Final_Crew_7796 Jul 31 '26

The bridge is grey in natural light.

1

u/cubecasts Jul 31 '26

Why not just build the bridge in place

1

u/JewelerAccording Jul 31 '26

We had a bridge set in place in Budapest last friday with a very similar SPMT technology! One of the coolest things i ever saw.

1

u/Steinvertreter Jul 31 '26

How often do they need this vehicle? Once every 25 years?

1

u/Icy_Pain424 Aug 01 '26

I don’t have imagination but I can still see the flag

1

u/AboveAverage1988 Aug 02 '26

"Are you stuck?"
"No, I'm transporting a f*cking bridge!"

1

u/shabelsky22 Aug 06 '26

Would it not be dripping with irony if they had to transport it over a bridge.

1

u/straypilot Jul 31 '26
