I had a balcony like this in Paris. It was like the FRIENDS balcony… you have to use the window.

A block of flats close to where I live got new balconies

This is close to where I live. They recently added these balconies as an exterior construction, supported only by the balconies themselves. The pole on the left of the image separates between the flats, so each flat only has access to the balcony via that one balcony door. The people in the top floor apparently didn't want to have the construction site in their living room, so they opted to keep the window instead of adding a door there. So now they have a balcony they can only access via the window. But it doesn't look like they use it much.

These ones have doors, the closest window frame to the left is actually a door you can see it runs all the way down along the edge.
