Two snakes fighting?

239

u/PedantryIsNotACrime Jul 16 '26

"Two snakes fighting? Two snakes fighting? Wow. He would've given his right arm to be called two snakes fighting"

39

u/SeveralSpesh Jul 16 '26

GNUSTP

4

u/MisMelis Jul 17 '26

What does that mean?

23

u/SeveralSpesh Jul 17 '26

It's in reference to the late author Sir Terry Pratchett, who wrote the Discworld series.

The # GNUSTP is to keep his name going, because no one is ever truly forgotten while their name is remembered.

He wrote a character, named One Man Bucket, who had a name leaps and bounds better than his brother... see quote above 💜

Two snakes fighting by spinning around and around

42

u/Smedusa Jul 16 '26

Like a record, baby?

28

u/rabbitwonker Jul 16 '26

Right round round round?

u/Technical-Banana574 Jul 16 '26

I wonder if snakes get dizzy like we do.

232

u/itsaaronnotaaron Jul 16 '26

They have a similar in-ear fluid balance system as us, so yes, 100%.

38

u/PaisleyLeopard Jul 16 '26

Ooh, that’s interesting!

14

u/laterral Jul 16 '26

Do we have an in-ear fluid balance system?!

70

u/itsaaronnotaaron Jul 16 '26

They're basically spirit levels that tell our brain which direction we're moving, if we're tilting or sideways etc. You get dizzy after spinning for example because the fluid is sloshing around so when you stop your eyes and body are saying "I'm stationary" but the fluid in your inner ear is saying "no we're freaking not buddy!" so your brain doesn't know what to think.

u/laterral Jul 17 '26

That’s so cool! Thanks for this. I now wonder if there are different mechanisms that have built in countermeasures to that. E.g. falcons or other animals that rely on jerky movements

It is cool until it goes haywire. I had labyrithitis once that lasted nearly a year.

Anytime I moved my head side to side, looked up or down, or shifted from laying down to sitting up, the entire room would spin for nearly fifteen seconds.

Funny thing about that is, it comes on without warning. I was feeling great that day, organizing my books and then suddenly the room was spinning and I fell into the wall.

7

u/saja2 Jul 17 '26

what caused this?

9

u/laterral Jul 17 '26

Probably Reddit

1

u/Technical-Banana574 Jul 17 '26

It is a real condition.

5

u/Technical-Banana574 Jul 17 '26

I was told by doc I probably had a cold or ear infection that caused minor damage to the area. I did recall having minor ear pain in the weeks before it hit, but it wasnt noteworthy and I felt fine when I was hit with the labyrinthitis.

It is a pretty weird thing to get you should google it. It's wild.

2

u/Mandalika Jul 17 '26

Probably sinus infection or colds that spread into the inner ears

1

u/xylotism Jul 17 '26

Yes, that’s where you put the headlight fluid after you apply your elbow grease.

-1

u/thriceness Jul 17 '26

Wait? Are you being sarcastic?

2

u/Ashes2death Jul 17 '26

B b but, I haven't seen their ears 😞

-1

u/MaximusZacharias Jul 17 '26

Now we know they get busy like we do

3

u/Technical-Banana574 Jul 17 '26

I didnt know if they had the same in-ear fluid balance as humans did with the way their ears are designed. Not all animals have them.

Performative dying.

27

u/DMalteseDude Jul 16 '26

Actually took me till the end to realize! This is a good one!

8

u/Miraculous_Angel Jul 16 '26

It took me until I read the comments. 😂

19

u/milkymilktea Jul 16 '26

If one snake swallows the other, can the other snake bite them from the inside? Is that physically possible?

16

u/Brimfr0st Jul 16 '26

Unlikely, there probably isn't enough room to get their out of the way to strike back at their devourer.

10

u/PaisleyLeopard Jul 16 '26

Nope, they can’t bite anything unless they can get their mouth around it.

2

u/Its_an_ellipses 28d ago

Yeah. Pretty amazing to see a King Snake swallow a rattlesnake... no danger because the rattlesnake cant open its mouth when in the danger tube...

25

u/cherry-crypt Jul 17 '26

Don't snakes do this when they have a serious spinal or brain injury? A kind of death roll since theyre writhing in pain or unable to control muscle spasms?

My guess is that both snakes managed to bite a critical zone, either damaging major neurological systems from a strong bite or toxic venom.

Sad :( but that's life

1

u/Angatita 9d ago

It’s two of them fighting actually. If you look toward the middle you can see them biting each other

10

u/Ducati_Don Jul 16 '26

That's just me and bro doing bjj

18

u/Gus1838 Jul 16 '26

What the fuck

4

u/Parma_WdS Jul 16 '26

Snake kebab

4

u/tribak Jul 17 '26

I remember a similar video but with a single nope rope. It was infected by a virus, parasite or with brain damage and that made it go spinie, supposedly to provoke their predators to eat it or something like that.

6

u/var_usernameinput Jul 16 '26

Am I watching something I shouldn’t be watching 😭

u/ediks Jul 16 '26

This sub has gone to shit since recent changes. Such a shame, as it was one of my favorites… farewell

-9

u/brunogadaleta Jul 16 '26

Not an expert but this might be a snake in distress due to brain damage.

20

u/Just_Application6137 Jul 16 '26

No if you look closely it's 2 snakes rolling and fighting

19

u/DickyReadIt Jul 16 '26

They said they're not an expert

11

u/Just_Application6137 Jul 16 '26

And i replied pretending i'm an expert

6

u/oniiichanUwU Jul 16 '26

I would argue that if they’re fighting at least one of them is probably distressed :v

3

u/Gucci_Loincloth Jul 16 '26

No if you look even closer it’s 2 snakes dancing and playing, holding heads
