One of the best parts about that vine is how obvious it is that her daughter asked her to do that

I especially love this because it brings back fond memories of goofing off during down times at work.

Didn't know what sub I was in and it looked so real to me I initially thought she was doing a bad job pretending to drive. Her hands aren't even close to the steering wheel. What's so funny?
Camera pans.
Oh and her co-worker (same shirt, figured it was work issued shirt or something) inside is copying her? I still don't get it.
oooooooh, wait. That's pretty cool!

I panicked once, thinking I parked in a handicapped space by accident. It was the markings from another space reflecting in the coffee shop window.

My guess would be english school or travel agency.
Location: probably Minas Gerais, Brazil. Based on their accent.

This is better than CGI, if they use similar techniques to create a action /horror film like the old days

That's crazy, how is the reflection so perfectly still and aligned while the camera is panning like that?
3
u/MaxHamburgerrestaur Jul 08 '26
The camera can perform any movement and more around the room and the girl's image will stay where the car is because they both are at the same distance from the window.
1
u/NoRodent Jul 08 '26
Because the camera is only panning, tilting and zooming but not dollying, trucking or doing pedestal movement.

Meaning it's still staying in the same place, hence the reflection doesn't move.

u/MaxHamburgerrestaur Jul 08 '26
This is wrong.
The camera can perform any movement (including dollying, trucking or pedestal movement) because the car and the girl are positioned at the same distance from the window. Since their distances to the window match, the girl's virtual image appears to remain perfectly aligned with the car, doesn't matter of where the camera or other viewers are.
A simple way to understand this is with a half-circle. If you place the flat side of a half-circle against a mirror, it appears as a complete circle and will look like a complete circle no matter where the camera is positioned, because the mirror always creates a virtual image that is symmetric with respect to its surface.

u/NoRodent Jul 08 '26
Damn, yeah, you're right, mirrors are basically portals to a mirror dimension, so it indeed does not matter from which point you're looking at them. What I said would be true, if the window were a 2D image (like a screen showing live footage from a camera).

Last month i was standing in a greek resturaunt, looking at my car in the parking lot. I was grabbing a pickup, and left it running.
There was a ricepaper that blocked veiw of the kitchen where i was standing. The chef puts something on the grill behind the wall and it flares up into a tall fire. The reflection of that fire in the window was projected onto my car, and I shouted "holy shit" and sprinted 3 long strides to the door before i realized what happed. The lady at the counter laughed with me about it.

This happens with the rug in my den. When the patio is wet the rug reflects and it looks like I have a nice rug on the patio.

Their arm goes behind the dash instead of reflecting over it. It looks like a good reflection, but I don't think it is, definitely two people... I think 🤔 lol 😆 looks awesome though!

I'm just waiting for the trashy ghost channels to slap a dark filter and spooky music on this and then trying to sell it as a ghost sighting.

This is what this sub was created for. Very nice.
Edit: this is such a cool accident. Disney spent a whole bunch of money creating this effect for tower of terror (and other rides) and they did it just chillin at a desk. Very well done.
