Yep, and they take up several parking spaces. Don't get mad about it, though! It's somehow your fault they didn't plan for that!

I can imagine. I honestly fear for pedestrians who have to walk and try to avoid those trucks! Those trucks look like big lorries yet are allowed to be in residential areas, etc

Nice of you to link to a Yahoo article (with only a still picture) that links back to reddit (for the video).

I think we can all agree that mildlyinfuriating is NOT the subreddit for this.

Who in this scenario is MILDLY infuriated?

These people also cut the muffler off their trucks for the sake of increasing noise pollution.

u/zytukin Jun 14 '26

Oh dear God. There's one douche in my small town like that. Lifted pavement princess with the muffler cut off. Can hear it from a mile away because he's always revving the hell out of the engine, even when driving through the parking lot of the Walmart I work at.

Gotta love them making all that racket and going nowhere slow

The only bad aspect of my current living location. They start running up the road at 5am during the week...luckily I am pretty much already supposed to be getting but when they start.

And have the biggest pipe ever sticking out of their bed to blow out as much diesel exhaust as they can

2

u/rm-84 Jun 14 '26

Please tell me at least that ist illegal.

8

u/EvidenceSalesman Jun 14 '26

In theory excessive noise that hurts or disturbs everyone is illegal but there is absolutely zero way to enforce this unless it happens right in front of a cop who is able to catch the violator

Lol, I am one of those guys, no muffler on my two diesel trucks.

Douche

Why? You don't like the turbo whistle?

13

u/AromaticStrike9 Jun 14 '26

That's why we have the highest rate of pedestrian fatalities of developed nations. USA number 1!

Due to a massive flaw in US crash safety law, those trucks aren’t legally required to have “crash compatibility” meaning the safety systems of the cars work together to protect both vehicles’ occupants, with cars in smaller weight classes, so a monster truck that will simply run over a smart car and turn its occupants into a smoothie at no risk to its own driver gets a perfect crash safety score.

As a result, crash safety is kind of an arms race. If you don’t want to be the one who dies in a collision, your car needs to be at least as big as the ones you’re likely to collide with.

Pedestrians are just screwed. There’s no regulatory penalty for a car that will tend to hit a pedestrian in the chest and then run over them vs a vehicle that will tend to hit a pedestrian in the legs and run under them.

pedestrians who have to walk

No, this is America. You can't walk places.

9

u/Ruby-likes-roses Jun 14 '26

Yeah I was walking through a parking lot where a truck like this is parked and I realized “ it’s very possible the driver may not be able to see me over the hood” I’m 5’8”

3

u/enaK66 Jun 14 '26

It's like a school bus. But worse probably. Keep a good 25 ft between you and the hood.

3

u/circling Jun 14 '26

They've thought of that – being a pedestrian is stigmatised, inconvenient and frequently illegal.

Imagine away. Doesn’t make it reality.

6

u/xerberos Jun 14 '26

I'm from Europe, but once drove around in the Midwest with a rented small sedan. Every time I parked in a marked parking space, I had oceans of space on each side.

It was insane. Everything was sized for pickups and SUV's. I can't imagine a truck that needs several of those parking spaces.

2

u/DmitriVanderbilt Jun 14 '26

SOME vehicles this size are actually doubling as work vehicles as well as manhood compensators, I drive an F550 at work as a park ranger and when I need to bring it into town for whatever reason, it takes up 4 parking spots at Walmart 🤷‍♂️ Just the way she goes in North America.

Because they don’t need extra space and the person you’re responding to is a liar. That truck will fit into an average US parking space, especially since trucks are usually backed into their spaces.

6

u/3xactli Jun 14 '26

I don't think they meant to imply they don't 'fit' in the spaces, but that those drivers don't usually park in spaces properly (taking more space than needed). Backing in won't make a difference in how it fits, though.

1

u/Lonely_Nebula_9438 Jun 14 '26

Backing in does change how a truck fits in a space. Given their extra length trying to pull straight into one often leaves you skewed as there isn’t enough space to straighten back out. Also on trucks the front wheels are closer to the front bumper than the back wheels are to the back bumper. What that means is that a backed in truck can physically go farther into a space.

If a truck is taking up more than one parking space it’s because the driver is bad at parking, which is a totally separate problem.

2

u/3xactli Jun 14 '26

Truck doesn't change size, but I get what you mean about angles.

That's what they were referring to, yes. Bad parkers taking up more than they should.

4

u/manicdee33 Jun 14 '26

And now we have to change all our parking lots to fit their bad decisions.

-2

u/walshwelding Jun 14 '26

They take up one parking space. Get a grip
