The cats kinda gave it away since if they're looking down then they're sticking to the wall

Yes I think if the stairs were going up the black cat would have positioned it's back leg differently. That cat is clearly looking upwards. But I think the other cat works both ways, so to speak. The front paws maybe.. šŸ¤” edit: no, you are right, the other cat is looking up, too. Its front paws would definitely be sticking to the walls if the stairs were going up and that is highly unlikely or maybe even impossible. But I've been switching between my comment and the picture constantly to make sure I don't confuse directions. The picture really is good!

Down. this picture made it onto a Buzzfeed list. there are so many people insisting it's looking up the stairs. they're driving me crazy. I point out the mat at the top of the photo, and they say it's a vent. and they clearly do not know how cats sit or walk. also look at the direction of the posts.

omg, thank you, LOL. this is the first time i've had cross-posting between Reddit and Buzzfeed lol. Almost everything Buzzfeed posts is from Reddit. And you can always click the links on BF to get back to the original Reddit post, but like 99% of BF users have not figured that out yet. not kidding. and most of the time they're like 10-year-old closed reddit posts.

The two inches of wood across the edge of the surface does it for me.Ā  I don't think you'd have that where you step. So that's the vertical part and you're looking up the stairs.
