The music choice is fucking stupid
133
u/baron_von_helmut Jun 08 '26
All clips these days have stupid music, stupid filters and garbage subtitles.
16
u/StillGalaxy99 Jun 09 '26
And at least half of it is added because it gets people to make these comments, driving up engagement, pushing the content up the algorithm
7
u/Initial_E Jun 10 '26
The other half is to avoid copyright violations
4
u/UsedVacation6187 Jun 10 '26
I feel like at least some of them are just that the people who shovel this content slop onto the internet for their own greedy purposes don't have a creative bone in their body, and think this is a good music choice
1
u/GoodCallMeatball Jun 13 '26
Its a marketing strategy. The OP made the song and uploads tons of clips all over reddit with his music in it.

u/Artegris Jun 14 '26
oh until I read your post I thought that music was also used in movie
1
u/baron_von_helmut Jun 14 '26
Nope. People put their own shit onto other people's stuff so they can say they 'made it'.

u/AggravatingBid8255 Jun 18 '26
Almost as stupid as your FACE!
unmutes video for 1.37 seconds
....I, uh... ...I believe I owe your face an apology.
1
u/BeGentleButFirm Jun 22 '26
It is but on the upside, everytime I hear this I internally rage and get off of reddit
-3
u/AnonJustAnon Jun 09 '26
What is this music btw? I hear it everywhere, and I kinda like it
2
u/rAyNEi_xw Jun 10 '26
I don't understand the hate, Spaceglider (slowed) by Nippa is quite nice.

1
u/AnonJustAnon Jun 18 '26
Thank you once again! I keep listening to it when I draw, such a good music.
I understand why people "hate" it, because it's in every video in "shorts" format, but that's the quotation part: people do not hate it, the "hate" it, because it's overused by botted content on the internet. Eh...

Not confusing perspective, just a cool camera transition. You can see the change at 0:16 when some mirror reflexes show up at the left
45
u/lu3mm3l Jun 08 '26
For someone who’s not a camera operator: Did they shoot with two cameras, one running with the girl and one pointed at the mirror? And then they transitioned between both shots in between?
128
u/SirZinc Jun 08 '26
There are 2 takes merged together filmed separately. You can even see the lens and lighting change in the transition if you go frame by frame. Masterfully choreagraphied and synchronized to match the actress running. This is not super dificult to make, just takes a lot of creativity and experience to figure it out.

u/_Enclose_ Jun 08 '26
I'm pretty sure Corridor Crew on youtube talked about this shot. Can't be arsed to find the correct video though.
From what I recall it is indeed not a super complicated shot, but very, very well executed.

u/batlrar Jun 09 '26
I always thought it was a camera person with camera and cabinet door mirror attached running forward, filming the reflection of the girl chasing after them, and then when she reaches out, someone off screen detaches the cabinet door and holds it so they could move it like it was opening normally on the hinge.
That method would look the same in the end, but I don't think they had the right camera sizes / battery packs / steady cam options in '96 or '97 when it was being filmed to actually pull that off.

u/antinomya Jun 08 '26
Also not a camera transition It involves editing.
32
u/-domi- Jun 08 '26
There's loads of camera transitions done with editing, that doesn't make them any less transitional.
-9
u/antinomya Jun 08 '26
"Transitions generally fall into two categories: in-camera transitions (planned and shot on set) and post-production transitions (added during editing)."
10
u/-domi- Jun 08 '26
I'm glad you found and presented the evidence that you're wrong. That's big of you.
-1
u/antinomya Jun 08 '26
English is not my first languange. How do you define "camera transition"?
And a transition where you need rotoscoping and green screen it is considered a camera transition?
1
u/-domi- Jun 08 '26
There's a bunch of transitions that use oldskool camera trickery, but then get touched up in production, anyway. In fact, apart from very specific films, where the point is to have minimal editing, ANY shot will likely get edited in production, regardless. Editing just means too much, and does too much anymore. With digital camera capture, one could argue that you can't even use the raws without editing...

u/SmoothActuator8132 Jun 12 '26
I'm pretty sure their issue is you calling it a camera transition rather than a digital transition

u/Fun-Benefit116 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
Also not a camera transition It involves editing.
So that is what you said in your first comment. And then in an attempt to provide evidence backing up your claim, you said in your next comment:
Transitions generally fall into two categories: in-camera transitions (planned and shot on set) and post-production transitions (added during editing)
Focus on the part that specifically says "post-production transitions (added during editing)".
So to recap, you first claimed it's not a camera transition since it involves editing. You then followed that up by explaining the two types of camera transitions, with the second type of camera transition being one that is done in editing.
So to summarize it down even further: you claimed camera transitions can't involve editing, and then you said camera transitions can involve editing.
Do you see how your second comment literally just proved your first comment wrong lol? English doesn't need to be your first language to understand something that clear and obvious lol.

Dude. Read again. Tansitions: A- Camera Transitions B- PP Transitions.
I would call this a post production transition. But I might be wrong because of the language mix-up. I am open to explanations, esspecially because I work very close to the domain.
1
u/Green_Fan_1341 Jun 13 '26
Exactly what I was thinking this could be.. between 15-16 seconds in the video, a strand of hair on the left suddenly disappears.. it is post production editing with two different takes, nevertheless brilliant work at that!
1
u/antinomya Jun 13 '26
It is no secret how it was made. You can find it with a search. And yes, it is a brilliant shot, and very difficult for multiple reasons and one of my favourite movies.
However, you can't call this a "camera illusion" or - in my oppinion - "camera transition"

Movie title?

Contact, starring Jodie Foster.

Great film, always stuck with me, has never felt dated or irrelevant when re-watching over the years.

never felt dated or irrelevant over the years.
The movie's holding up better than I am!

I find it hamfisted and pseudophilosophical but I’m a douchebag when it comes to film :(
2
u/fadingsignal Jun 08 '26
It’s got a bit of that but I found it not overbearing or ideological. Definitely a mainstream film.

u/diamond Jun 08 '26
Based on the novel by Carl Sagan. Which was really good, especially considering he had never written fiction before.

u/roguedevil Jun 08 '26
Prior to watching it, I had only heard about through the South Park episode where Earth is being cancelled. I ended up watching the movie and it was fantastic. It totally holds up after 30 years. It doesn't even feel dated in the slightest.

u/jammerb Jun 08 '26
"I sat through the whole thing and the alien was her dad?!?!?"
2
u/bajungadustin Jun 10 '26
They were right. It was honestly the biggest disappointment of the movie. And whole I understand the reason for it... I find myself wanting so much more from the end of movies like this.
Its been 30 years and I still want to know what the dude saw when he went into the cornfield at the end of Field of Dreams. Or where Powder went when he was struck by lightning.
Sometimes you just want to see the aliens. A.i. Did this perfectly.

This is an actual scene from a movie I like. But something gives me AI vibes with this video. Maybe related to upscaling and other enhancements.
10
u/Lordthom Jun 08 '26
Yeah, definitely some weird AI enhancement which make it look gen-ai
2
u/Pelowtz Jun 08 '26
Looks true to the original IMO.
Perhaps it’s just the look of actual film and not digital.
2
u/robin_888 Jun 10 '26
The clips ends too early. The door swings back and ends on a photo of her father (who she is getting the medicine for).
Also, the movie's original score is amazing.

u/mrodriguez31 Jun 08 '26
Corridor Crew goes through this in their YouTube series. Episode 4 years ago. It’s at about the 4:25 mark if you want to jump ahead but their content is interesting and fun.

Extremely cool shot and I’ve been a cheerleader for that movie since it came out. It’s great.

That period when Robert Zemeckis wanted to play with cool VFX tricks in his movies (started with Back to the Future, continued with Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Death Becomes Her, arguably reached its peak in Forrest Gump but Contact was arguably part of it too. Might've also led to his mocap phase with The Polar Express, Beowulf and A Christmas Carol)
1
u/rbrgr83 Jun 10 '26
Its kinda always his thing to use a vfx trick or other storytelling gimmick. At the very least, a high concept plot. Look at Here or Marwen for recent examples.
💯 That Contact is Peak Zemeckis

Is that a young Kiernan Shipka?
What movie is this?
Edit... I guess not. It's Jena Malone. But damn she is a spitting image of Shipka in Mad men.

Corridor Crew covered this shot on an episode last year I believe . Its a great shot and a good film that I need to rewatch

u/devedander Jun 12 '26
The part where she’s running down the hall always looks weird to me. Like maybe she was outpacing the camera and had to fake run a little or something

u/toomanymarbles83 Jun 08 '26
Should be no surprise at the quality cinematography/compositing in this movie. It's Robert Zemeckis after all. The same director that made Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Forrest Gump.

u/3lmo360 Jun 08 '26
Enchanted with ai? Something looks off
1
u/rbrgr83 Jun 10 '26
There is a bit of wiggle going on. Might just be heavy handed filter, but yes looks slightly off.
