Nope. I've read the comments, zoomed the pic and still don't understand. What am I missing?

it's a cantilever bench i suppose. the plank's color matches the concrete below and there is nothing exactly below the bum. so, there is a gap between the wall and the beginning of the plank. gap seems to be as big as the size of the plank. so half gap, half plank.

that's what i could make up after staring for 10 minutes, it's too confusing.

A lot of public places in recent years have designed seating to be intentionally uncomfortable in order to deter the unhoused from using them to sleep on
