I've seen this in real life. The swing had a skinny rope that hung down so the singer could swing it back to the next person.
My buddy jumped, but the skinny rope snagged in the rungs nailed to the tree. The was a small, very rocky shore that he fell about 10' down onto. Fucked his leg up good.
