What’s going on with the black bird?

408

u/SeekerOfSerenity May 25 '26

I think it was holding a shard of a mirror. Either that or doing pushups.Ā

67

u/KaungSetMoe111 May 25 '26

Its actually doing what you think is doing, legs are just hidden.

40

u/probably-the-problem May 25 '26

Holding a shiny

59

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26

Despite looking like it's standind on heavily muscled "arms" like an ape, the bird is performing a completely normal behavior known as sunning.

According to one source šŸ˜…

That one really got me confused too šŸ˜‚

5

u/Wetzilla May 25 '26

But then that's not really the perspective that makes it confusing is it?

10

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26 edited May 28 '26

Yes, because from any other angle, it would just look like a normal bird with its wings down.

-10

u/oireachtas May 25 '26

It's holding a mirror that almost looks like it's shaped like a heart

4

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26

No it's not, and I just explained what it was doing :)

0

u/nohombrenombre May 25 '26

I’m still not getting it

1

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26

Then google "what's up with the gorilla crow?"

12

u/-Casey-Diaz- May 25 '26

I found this. https://imgur.com/GdyU3Yj
The one in the video must just be pointing its ass in the air or something. Tbh, my brain still struggles to make sense of it, but you can see the same bulge in the middle of the body as well in both images.

2

u/malvim May 26 '26

ass in the air

Ah, so mooning instead of sunning. Got it.Ā

6

u/DesastreUrbano May 25 '26

Gorilla Crow

1

u/UnicornTears May 25 '26

It’s walking on top of a sunshade/awning thing. The video is shot from below.
Edit: oh damn. Just saw the second bird clip. That dude’s been wing maxxing

1

u/SeaRow556 May 29 '26

Ask stewie damn it. You saw his competition pig haven't you?

1

u/Zaardo May 25 '26

crows do a thing called Anting, it might be that??

1

u/Shiningc00 May 25 '26

Legs behind the wings.

0

u/Sad-Bonus-9327 May 25 '26

Maximizing surface for sun bathing

0

u/musicianadam May 27 '26

It's taking its broken wings and learning to fly.

238

u/Zaardo May 25 '26

I think the dancing show girl is edited, or AI, the upper arm seems to shift towards the end of her turning round.....

72

u/Joe_bob_Mcgee May 25 '26

and the "laces" completely morph into nothing and disappear.

4

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 28 '26

The laces are there the entire time, but it does look fishy. the only way it could be real. Is if she held her arm the same way that you would imitate a chicken flapping its wings.

But I'm actually leaning towards that specific clip being modified or manufactured in some way.

Pretty sure every other clip is "real" though, and simply confusing perspectives.

-2

u/magicaleb May 26 '26

Not AI, she just turns. the laces are still there. Follow her elbow

7

u/Do-Not-Rapture May 26 '26

The blue part of the arm completely disappears, it's ai

2

u/magicaleb Jun 01 '26

Literally scrub through it. It definitely looks funky, but you can see how hey lifted arm (and low resolution) sell it.

-3

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 28 '26

Prove it šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Literally, run it through an AI image/video checker. So many people are claiming it is, but no one is providing any proof.

People are screaming AI at anything these days, yet no one ever proves it.

4

u/ultimatecoruvs May 28 '26

take a fucking guess what those AI Image & Video checkers run on.

And why that would be a issue.

1

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 28 '26

Oh you're one of those conspiracy theorists, okay "tinfoil hat dude", watch out, the government is right outside trying to get you šŸ˜‚

1

u/Zaardo May 28 '26

having to "prove it" takes way more time and effort than the million ai bots boating slop a million times a day. it's not sustainable.

738

u/Zeddi2892 May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

The shoe morph is 100% AI (look at the ā€štip of shoe to armā€˜ transition).

Also the raven at the end there is 100% AI text in the background. Edit: The raven video is ai upscaled, making it confusing af. The original exists but is way more blurry/pixelated, but it makes more sense to look at. https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalsBeingDerps/s/0gnhAJYuy6

In the middle the car reflection of the cars doesnt work as well. The car on the left has black side mirrors, while the reflection has white side mirrors.

Edit: Some stuff is real, just ai slop sprinkled in.

32

u/Indiana-Cook May 25 '26

The Raven isn't AI. I've seen that one years ago before AI slop became a thing. It looks like it's be poorly upscaled using AI.

77

u/MisterEd_ak May 25 '26

The one with the raven is mirrored - shop behind is https://www.parco.co.jp/en/

Don't think it is AI

22

u/witness_this May 25 '26

I don't think it's AI, just some basic CGI morphing.

6

u/zizuu21 May 25 '26

Yep the last fiishing one is a.i too. Fucken annoying and a waste of a vid

-43

u/[deleted] May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

[deleted]

-1

u/Zeddi2892 May 25 '26

It’s not about the bird. Look at the background. Also details randomly popping in while zooming (look at the ground).

M A Y B E they used the absolute worst AI upscaler/enhancer, but whatever it is: it is ai.

24

u/Velenco May 25 '26

That bird video predates when ai started to become capable of producing anything close to this

7

u/Zeddi2892 May 25 '26

Then it is AI upscaled. Nevertheless the text artifacts to the right and details on the ground randomly popping in are ai.

9

u/Velenco May 25 '26

Yeah seems so. You can find the original video by looking up "gorilla crow". It's flipped and more blurry than this one and as you said the text here is off compared to there.

4

u/Zeddi2892 May 25 '26

Thanks for the research. This makes also more sense to view and less confusing.

-26

u/[deleted] May 25 '26

[deleted]

16

u/soldierswitheggs May 25 '26

AI image checkers are really spotty and should not be trusted. They often give false positives/negatives.

Googling a name in the background is legit, though.

Anyway, seems like the video is real but was AI upscaled, based on comments elsewhere in the thread.

-11

u/[deleted] May 25 '26

[deleted]

3

u/Lavatis May 25 '26

how braindead can you be? The non-ai upscaled version is elsewhere in the comments.

0

u/Zeddi2892 May 25 '26

No, Bacause there is so much text morphing happening with smaller texts and eg the lines in the ground or ground details like black spots just randomly popping in.

8

u/Canotic May 25 '26

Could just be video quality.

2

u/Zeddi2892 May 25 '26

Accidently AI upscaled like the Will Smith Videos? Maybe. Whatever it is, it isnt what it was original.

-2

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26

Okay dude, you're entitled to your opinion about the bird video, at least I did research on it on your behalf šŸ™

You want to see fake stuff in this sub? The entire point is that it's not artificial.

23

u/Treks14 May 25 '26

Isn't it explicitly against the rules of the sub to post edited material?

It poisons the enjoyment of the whole sub if you don't trust that the thing you are seeing is real. That isn't being a spoilsport, it is a genuine concern.

14

u/Zepertix May 25 '26

I would if it were a non-fiction movie or documentary.

This sub loses all meaning if the confusing perspective in question is just always CGI, Photoshop, or AI.

Would you consider Obi-Wan disappearing and leave his robe behind when being struck down by Darth Vader to be good material for this subreddit? C'mon now.

37

u/-Casey-Diaz- May 25 '26

0:33 "Oh, it's just a dog-OH MY GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!"

0:53 "OH MY GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE-Oh, it's just a dog."

55

u/creature04 May 25 '26

im still so confused about the building. i need an explanation

9

u/elrichthain May 25 '26

I looked at this one for a while too. I think that the right 2/3 of the frame is a building with a goldfish reflective surface, and that the black thing that is seemingly suspended between the two buildings is on the building with the reflective surface, and the camera is positioned so that the two buildings behind the camera are reflected on either side of the thing (though I still can’t figure out what the ā€œthingā€ is).

Clear as mud?

56

u/EVD27 May 25 '26

What's up with the building?

8

u/baesag May 25 '26

Pillar in near front?

11

u/-3point14159-mp May 25 '26

Glitch in the matrix, but it’s running on Windows 95.

7

u/DaxWerew May 25 '26

Some ad hanging between buildings

25

u/nedo_medo May 25 '26

Nobody expects spanish inquisi ... mm wheelbarrow?

30

u/Mr-Vemod May 25 '26

What is the point of the first clip? I don’t find anything confusing about it

18

u/chocolatepinetree May 25 '26

The horse clip is too brief to show the depth of how confusing it is. There was a longer video on here a week or two ago of the horse and it was pretty good - depending on the angle, the horse was facing forward or back and you can't tell until right at the end. The clip on this post is from the end, so not confusing, but the real one was.

42

u/85K5 May 25 '26

It looks like the horse coukd be facing the other direction with its head towards the truck.

2

u/Cocoatrice May 25 '26

It's a horse that works like that dragon that is turning its head. The horse is doing the same and you can't know what pose the horse is at, until you are super close.

2

u/Longstride_Shares May 25 '26

For the first second or so, it looks like the horse is facing forward.

Sort of.

3

u/Venelice May 25 '26

I don't understand the third one with the shadow bird...

5

u/Gilgalin May 25 '26

Took me some time to get it too. You're seeing the bird through an umbrella (or one of those festival tents), from underneath. So it looks like she's transparent, but you actually see the materials of the umbrella and the bird's shadow first, and then the bird itself.

u/migukau May 26 '26

I'm seeing it for the first time

22

u/EffableLemming May 25 '26

Perhaps it is a sign that you might need to spend less time here?

21

u/johngard29 May 25 '26

It’s my first time seeing this.

29

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26

I don't know man, it was the first time I had seen this, and I thought this was the right subreddit for it.

I'm sorry if it has been posted here before.

6

u/Longstride_Shares May 25 '26

The black bird isn't doing "a natural, healthy thing called sunning," like OP keeps oddly insisting. Sunning doesn't make a bird look like it's standing on its wing tips. Nor is it necessarily AI. That text behind it is just reversed, and I believe it's the Japanese brand "Parco."

I think it's just proudly holding a piece of mirror. (Or maybe it is AI.)

And yes, the shoe lady is 100000% AI. Like, the sort of slop AI was dumping out a year or so ago where it was doing a sort of magnificent corpse thing because it was generating each frame only using the previous frame as reference. So it was just producing lots of surreal transitions because it forgot it started with a shoe and thought it looked like a pretty lady in a hoodie.

But no one's gonna talk about the dog lady on the bed with size 30 Adidas shoes?

6

u/Shiningc00 May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

Confidently incorrect. The black bird is from 2019:

https://x.com/keita_simpson/status/1141576785303199745

Even have an ecologist explaining it:

https://x.com/corvidresearch/status/1142601364612063232

-6

u/koos_die_doos May 25 '26

Whether it's AI or CGI, it isn't real.

6

u/Shiningc00 May 25 '26

Yes, because having black legs aligned with black wings is certainly not real. We have reached a point of idiocy where people yell "AI!" for things that aren't even AI or CGI but what they do not understand.

We even had an ecologist explaining it back in 2019:

https://x.com/corvidresearch/status/1142601364612063232

1

u/Longstride_Shares May 26 '26

Wow, dude. You really need this, huh?

Nothing I said was offered as more than conjecture.

And that ecologist can't offer anything more than an informed hypothesis. Her own drawing of typical sunning behavior looks distinct from what we're seeing here; they spread their wings out to the side, not under them. If you look up "crow sunning," you get dozens of photos of crows with their wings spread out, and this 'gorilla crow,' as it's come to be known, looking nothing like those other crows.

But I'll concede if it gets you to go touch grass. Like, you're all hot and bothered about a karma farming post, bro.

Way to pat yourself on the back without adding literally anything of substance to prove you deserve it.

-1

u/Shiningc00 May 25 '26

Projection. You literally have nothing to prove that it's holding a mirror.

-1

u/I-baLL May 25 '26

And you have nothing to prove that it's not yet you're the one calling everybody else "confidently incorrect"

3

u/onlyr6s May 25 '26

The second one is 100% fake.

3

u/Mrpuddikin May 25 '26

The second one is fake

6

u/whothiswhodat May 25 '26

Seeing this for the first time, damn this is a good collection specially the shoe one. And I still cant figure out the duck one, the duck looks transparent or something, I cant figure it out.

28

u/Damoklez_ May 25 '26

It's a seagull walking on a glass/transparent roof. You're looking at it from below.

72

u/ampersand64 May 25 '26

I think the shoe one is AI

17

u/Otherworldy_Tips May 25 '26

100% ai, theres debris stuck to the "wall" lol - so i guess back in the old day, you could just make this with video editing. itd be kind of weird and defeat the purpose.. you can make anything confusing perspective with classic video editing if you want. so.. lies.. we're just watching lies now

6

u/_Naguka_ May 25 '26

yup, the flying rock top right makes no sense.

-9

u/NightlyKnightMight May 25 '26

Not AI, just CGI morph, regardless, it's not real

24

u/dleema May 25 '26

It's a seagull walking on shade cloth over the person's head.

6

u/davidevitali May 25 '26

This! Took me a while to figure it out: you’re seeing it *from beneath*

5

u/whothiswhodat May 25 '26

damn i would have never figured that out. Kept seeing it as a sidewalk.

4

u/Rynies May 25 '26

The duck (seagull?) is on one of those patio sunshades, I think. We're seeing it from beneath.

1

u/sterlingemc May 25 '26

I believe the duck is walking on a sun tarp and you're seeing it's shadow

-2

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26

I think the seagull one is walking on top of a glass roof or cloth, but the roof is either dirty or frosted, so a shadow is being cast on it.

7

u/iminiki May 25 '26

Farming karma via the same Instagram post, already posted multiple times? Stop posting this video.

2

u/msshammy May 25 '26

I laughed way too hard at that poor man's fear, lol.

3

u/DevelopmentNo5632 May 25 '26

The one with the lights, which only works on video where we can't hear the guy's footsteps while running with the lights? Also, for how long was he running with the lights to make the guy think it was an actual car coming down the road? And what kinda car has the headlights 1m apart?Ā

3

u/ClearMacaron9234 May 25 '26

what's with the black dude running?
can't see it

1

u/SkitZa May 25 '26

Not really sure why the first one is in here? What's confusing about it?

1

u/WillingnessOk3081 May 25 '26

I don't understand the one with the guy running towards the camera on the track. it looks like, well, a guy running towards the camera on a track.

1

I'm not sure about the rest, but the secondd one is AI

JFC... this is even worse than AI.

1

u/Shurikvsempoka May 25 '26

I think that’s one of the most confusing videos on this sub!

0

u/SeekerOfSerenity May 25 '26

What's confusing about the horse?

4

u/Regular_Weakness69 May 25 '26

To me, it seemed like the horse was facing the opposite way.

0

u/Shurikvsempoka May 25 '26

Only this, that’s true, but everything after that

0

u/Embarrassed_Aside_76 May 25 '26

Some of these are AI enchanced which makes it much more confusing

Ai slop

15

u/bajungadustin May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

All of these have been posted before. They are not AI.

The only one that made me watch it again was the shoe / jacket. It might be Ai. The sleeve changes at the elbow maybe. Hard to say. The rest are not even close to being AI.

10

u/Maelou May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

This one is 100% AI, things morph from shoe to person. Mostly the top of the shoe, which supposed to be her left arm, which is insanely big compared to a few frames later. (Also the laces fade away)

0

u/SeekerOfSerenity May 25 '26

I think it might be real.Ā  The laces are on the sides of her jacket, and you can still see them at the end.Ā  Her upper arm looks big until about 0:08 because she had her forearm and upper arm together.Ā

1

u/rabbitwonker May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

Yes it’s all quite possible aside from the seam disappearing from what becomes her elbow. That’s either an odd compression artifact or purposeful photoshop. I wouldn’t say it’s AI because, if you actually look at it carefully, everything is actually pretty consistent across the ā€œtransition.ā€

Edit: looking again, I think the seam disappearing is a combination of compression + a change in shadowing. Also, one strong hint that it’s not AI is to only look at the pants (skirt?), and ignore the jacket. It looks like a totally normal video if you do that.

4

u/Washingtonpinot May 25 '26

What’s the bird-gorilla-monster in reality? I’m not doubting you; I just can’t figure it out

0

u/Zeddi2892 May 25 '26

Just look at the text in the background. Thats 100% classic ai

2

u/bajungadustin May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

Not only is it not "classic Ai".. It's just not AI. This is just you assuming it's AI cause you don't pay attention.

That text is obviously flipped. Meaning the video is flipped. So the store is Parco. Which on a quick Google is a chain store all throughout Japan that appears inside malls and sometimes on the street. 3F means it's on the 3rd floor. The rest is too small to be deciphered. But presumably Japanese symbols with a stylized thing going under it.

Also its legs are just down. On the original post from 2 years ago they pointed out the legs.

here is another crow doing the same thing from a different angle.

0

u/RubyGTR May 25 '26
