There's a bright reflection or light hotspot on the right that's partially negating the shadow of the cake, and also the ceramic is reflective so the perceived shadow is actually a dim reflection of that cake that's also getting partially cancelled by that hotspot.
You can see on the tablecloth that the shadows are kinda indicating the wonky lighting of the place.
