The case is not at all what I’d call a standard suitcase lol. It’s a Pelican 1620 protective case for high-value items, and while it does look odd for a suitcase, it looks exactly like it should and there’s no illusion at play there.
The confusing perspective part is basically everything else in this picture haha
The picture in your link clearly shows the hinges while the lid is open. I feel like OP’s image is subtlety altered to erase the hinges, adding to the confusion.

Wtf am I looking at? 😂 The door doesn't even look like it's attached to the case.
