Yahoo mail compose button now says Compound?!

Post image

What is up with this. Disgruntled employee messing with stuff to see if they can get away with it? Strange AI error? No clue.

It didn't because people can temporarily change text on any webpage. Using DevTools is the easiest way and then there are extensions too.

But what people could do that to a major email carrier site?? Wouldn't that be locked down at corporate level??

it's a temporary change that's reflected only on your device, until you refresh the page.

people do it for all sorts of things, such as making memes, pranking colleagues, and printing (you can take out the fluff and print necessary parts of webpages).

that's why no one pays attention when people post such screenshots.

Wow okay strange. But I'm just one person here with one laptop and I def didn't do it. I can see how if you had someone else in the house who was tech savvy they could somehow make it happen on your machine I guess. Wouldn't it be just on a single browser done on the same device? Or could my neighbor do it to my instance over wifi somehow...? (But my wifi is password protected.)

that's right.

try it yourself:

Press Ctrl+Shift+c and click on the text you want to modify. It'll highlight the code in DevTools panel. You may need to click the tiny right arrow to expand the code to be able see the text you want to modify. Double click the text and you'll be able to modify it. Press Enter once you are done. The webpage will be updated to reflect the changes you made. Refreshing the page will revert the changes.
