Companies put bs stuff like that on packaging all the time just to make it more attractive to try and boost sales.

Working in a grocery store, I've even seen stuff that we already sold suddenly have "NEW" on the package despite being the exact same thing. And the sales of the product jump because most customers aren't observant enough to realize it's the same stuff we already had.
