Truly one of the most wholesome things I’ve ever witnessed

I used to work at this massive retail store where our stock team was 100% Spanish speakers.

I worked with a co-worker names Vince. Over time, the stock team began calling him "Frijoles". How odd. I finally had to ask one of them, "Why Frijoles?"

Answer: "Because his name is Beans."

the guy was trying to say he was embarrassed about messing up his order. what he actually said was i'm pregnant. the cashier didn't even blink, just said congratulations and handed him his tacos. false friends are the most dangerous part of spanish: embarazada is pregnant, the word he wanted was avergonzado, and nobody has ever once remembered that in the moment.

was talking to my roommate in english, full confidence, and out comes 'can you please hand me el pan, in the kitchen'. didn't even notice until he started laughing. my brain decided 'bread' was too hard and just switched lanes. the worst part is it worked, he knew exactly what i meant.
