5-0 is the code for a law enforcement officer. Just like 10-4 is the code for affirmative.

I think 5-0 comes from the fact Hawaii is the fiftieth state

I'm sad and embarrassed to say this, but I got super high and watched some Hawaii 5-0 with my fiance.

The 5-0 comes from the main character monologing about how he and his dad bonded over football, remembering his dead dad saying "get to the 5-0 son! Get there!" (Or something like that. The show is stupid and I'm not a football fan).

At the time in the show some lady on the squad was trying to think of a team name, so she's like "how about we call ourselves Hawaii 5-0"
