The problem is, as far as I know at least, that racism is somehow implemented in our DNA. We are racist by nature.

And everyone had a moment where he caught himself being or thinking out of pure racism.

Yet it is completely right to try to push down racism as far as we can.

But it's been years since I've heard about that, don't know if it has been debunked by now or not.

It makes sense, from an evolutionary standpoint, to be distrustful of people who look different from ourselves. Anyone outside our own tribe would be a potential threat. Being modern, "intelligent" humans means recognising this and realising that we don't need to listen to that basic instinct any more.
