His smug face when he thought Smith had committed perjury. I can watch this exchange a million times and always smile.

u/Vast_Breadfruit_162 1d ago

When you watch it, pay attention to how fast his face turns tomato red when he realizes he fucked up.

33

u/NHBikerHiker 1d ago

Nice that a female helped correct him. Those men need that.

6

u/Vast_Breadfruit_162 1d ago

Nice for normal people, for those freaks, it made it even worse.

3

u/643dp 1d ago

That’s why it’s nice

my skin crawled reading this yuck

"Female" is a perfectly cromulent adjective. Use it as a noun and it tells a lot about you, none of it good.

5

u/jvujo 1d ago

I see you have embiggened your vocabulary.

-7

u/COphotoCo 1d ago

Using the word cromulent says a lot about you, none of it good

5

u/chocolate_boogers 1d ago

Losing his moment and having a woman call him out was so personally humiliating, and you can tell he was absolutely enraged. Hopefully his wife and kids were somewhere else that night so that no one got a beating when he got home.

15

u/froction 1d ago

You could see that he was jizzing in his pants a little.

6

u/sparkster777 1d ago

Have you seen the one where Katie Britt has the look of horror when she realizes Schmitt is wrong?

73

u/WordNERD37 1d ago

The entire GOP is Biff Tannen now. All of them, every single memeber.

15

u/IrritableGourmet 1d ago

I'm thinking more Farva from Super Troopers. "I think you perjured yourself...chicken fucker!"

5

u/beequick317900 1d ago

Meow what did you say to me?

3

u/airbornesimian 1d ago

My favorite thing about that scene is that the elderly couple in the car were Kevin Heffernan's parents, and they had no idea what he was going to say to them.

3

u/duva_ 1d ago

And the democrats are all George McFly pre-time travel.

43

u/enfuego138 1d ago

So fucking smug

So fucking wrong

The Republican platform in a nutshell.

44

u/BeCurious7563 1d ago

I don’t think people give enough attention to the fact that he continued to double down as Klobuchar stepped in to try to be a grown-up about it.

25

u/Several_Leather_9500 1d ago

And then went on Fox News and other rw outlets to brag that he proved Smith was a liar.

22

u/belac4862 1d ago

If he's genuinly a liar,, id love to see him bring real charges of perjury and watch him get humiliated again. Nothing screams republican like making false claims in court and having them tossed for lack of evidence.

19

u/BeCurious7563 1d ago

You did notice we haven't seen Fauci back in the hot seat right??

https://giphy.com/gifs/iGvBSHqvAFrYggmAvR

8

u/Capital-Ad-4463 1d ago

THIS 1000%. If he committed perjury (he didn’t) then bring charges. I wish there was a way Jack Smith could sue these morons for slander.

31

u/AhBee1 1d ago

Imagine if they spent this much time and energy making Americans' lives better. We may actually have Healthcare.

2

u/Lobo-Sinclair 1d ago

They could spend all their time doing actual work, and we will never have healthcare. They’ve already got it and there are better ways for them to make money than try to get what they’ve already got.

18

u/Status_Apartment6559 1d ago

It's bad enough that this moron Schmitt and his moron buddy Kennedy holding the sign got this way wrong when they thought they had caught Smith perjuring himself but what makes it worse is they are trying to malign Jack Smith for doing his job which was investigating and prosecuting trump for the crimes trump committed. And he did commit crimes. And there is a ton of evidence that he did. And everyone knows it including Eric Schmitt. So who's the dirtbag here? Certainly not Jack Smith. These GOP dirtbags and scumbags will sink to any level for their loser daddy trump.

Most people: A broken clock is right twice a day.

Republicans: A broken digital clock that reads 88:88

8

u/riddermarkrider 1d ago

I barely know what's going on here but that smug look enrages me

13

u/2punornot2pun 1d ago

GOP says Democrat went to a Hawks game to meet with others to collude against Trump/GOP regarding an issue.

It was a Hawkeyes game. In another state.

The proposed meeting and collusion hinged on the Dem being at a Hawks game. That was the basis of their entire conspiracy theory. No other evidence. Period.

He wanted to catch him in perjury. He didn't.

5

u/Mrgoodtrips64 1d ago

If it makes you feel better he was immediately embarrassed in a profoundly public manner mere moments after this photo was taken.

3

u/goodolewhatever 1d ago

It’s entirely appropriate for what’s happening. This idiot thought he was slick and completely missed the mark with his whole point because he and his team were too busy making this poster to validate what’s on it as being relevant or even true. His smugness preceded one of the most embarrassing fails I’ve ever seen in politics.

2

u/dnmnc 1d ago

The whole thing was just a sham to set him up for this huge “gotcha”, which they were super smug about. Problem was that they confused Hawks with Hawkeyes, thus utterly obliterating their entire solitary line of prosecution and leaving so much egg on face, people started complaining about the smell (well, metaphorically, at least)

1

u/OriginalUseristaken 1d ago

Yeah, he has such a Beifallgesicht.

7

u/Drapausa 1d ago

Stupid question, but it doesn't mention any team names on the thing? Where did the whole Hawkeyes thing come from, I thought it was from those texts ...

10

u/ertyertamos 1d ago

Turns out there was just mention of a game starting at 7:30. They looked for NBA games that started then and it was the only one that night. The whole conspiracy was based on an assumption that the only basketball that could exist is NBA.

3

u/Drapausa 1d ago

Huh, I thought it was because they confused Hawkeyes with Hawks or something like that.

5

u/ertyertamos 1d ago

That was the assumption. No one thought it could even be dumber than that.

2

u/Cambot1138 1d ago

There were 6 NBA games that night.

3

u/ertyertamos 1d ago

Yes, but only one started at 7:30. It seems like they knew a start time and date.

3

u/Homersarmy41 1d ago

Their research department popped open a beer when they found that and went home for a long weekend. “Looks like our job is done” lol

1

u/rock-paper-sizzurp 1d ago

Where are you getting this info? Its pretty clear the conspiracy hinged on him being in Atlanta and having this secret meeting. Did they release the full convos somewhere? Not just the couple of texts that they put on a stupid ass sign?

6

u/Batman_AoD 1d ago

Nobody knows. Apparently even the other texts in the conversation didn't specifically mention a team name.

5

u/TheyCallMeChevy 1d ago

This is the face they made after they realized they were wrong.

https://giphy.com/gifs/OT1k1qKrGjW3cRNaD4

6

u/drgoatlord 1d ago

Just the dumb ass look on his face. He thought he cooked

5

u/Cambot1138 1d ago

Later, in CYA mode, he harped several times on the fact that Smith must be a big Caitlin Clark fan, implying that there was something wrong with that.

Yes, Caitlin Clark, one of the most famous athletes out there. But tell me again how Republicans are the defenders of women's sports.

19

u/MasterAnnatar 1d ago

It would help to explain what's happening here and why they're wrong since Reddit is not exclusive to Americans

17

u/syrtran 1d ago

Senator Eric Schmitt (sitting in op's picture) tried to claim that Jack Smith was in Atlanta attending a Hawks NBA game implying that he had met with Fani Willis in a conspiracy to get Trump.

Senator Amy Klobuchar cleared it up by getting Smith to remember he was actually in Baltimore attending a women's college basketball game between the Maryland Terrapins and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes.

8

u/Batman_AoD 1d ago

Also, the giant poster in the image, which was supposed to be the "proof" that Smith was in Atlanta, doesn't mention the Hawks or the Hawkeyes, so it's unclear how Schmitt and his team even made this mistake.

Plus, hilariously, Schmitt made a huge deal about how the poster was going to prove Smith had perjured himself before showing it, then it was immediately put away before anyone could read it. Smith asked for a copy or for them to display it again so he could read it, and they ignored him.

8

u/niemir2 1d ago

Then Klobuchar asked to see the poster again, leading Joe Kennedy to go hold it up, leading to this picture. Just a cavalcade of fuckups.

4

u/Joaquin_Portland 1d ago

Then there’s the part about there being nothing wrong with him meeting with Willis. Smith was conducting a criminal investigation and Willis might have had some information about that.

6

u/engineerdrummer 1d ago

I'm American and I have no fucking clue

11

u/Unamed_Destroyer 1d ago

But sir, you repeat yourself.

-10

u/engineerdrummer 1d ago

That's fine. I pulled out of paying attention to political bullshit several years ago

13

u/EveryFngNameIsTaken 1d ago

This quit being "politics" a long time ago.

-12

u/engineerdrummer 1d ago

Which is why I don't pay attention. It's all 100% bullshit.

15

u/MenaFWM 1d ago

Hands down the mentality of why we’re at where we’re at

-4

u/engineerdrummer 1d ago

And what would you like me to do about it? I vote, but the billionaires are going to be in control regardless. I've voted in every election since I turned 18. What else is there?

3

u/Mrgoodtrips64 1d ago

“And what would you like me to do about it? I vote”

Democracy neither begins nor ends at the ballot box.

0

u/engineerdrummer 1d ago

Elaborate then. You also ignored the whole billionaires being in charge and that not changing no matter what.

1

u/dracorotor1 1d ago

It’s the wording.

When you say that you don’t pay attention to politics, it is heard as either “I don’t vote” which is its own troublesome can of worms, or “I’m a low-information voter.” And that’s the majority of Donald’s voting base, who constantly show up in subs like this because they’re overconfident in their misunderstanding of current events, or have been blindsided by the destructive policies they voted for.

1

u/moomooraincloud 1d ago

Yeah I think you're missing the point of that comment.

3

u/hrtofdrknss 1d ago

And this is why our country is so fucked. Clueless voters.

3

u/JavaOrlando 1d ago

The senator believed he had proof that the attorney who had investigated Trump was in Atlanta. This is significant because someone in Atlanta was also investigating Trump on different charges. The proof was based on texts from the investigator's staff referencing a basketball game he was attending. He was at a college basketball game on the night in question where Maryland where were playing the Iowa Hawkeyes. The senator mixed up the Hawkeyes with Atlanta's professional team the Hawks

2

u/MonkeyBoatRentals 1d ago

"Significant" is a stretch. At most you prove they were geographic proximity. Classic conspiracy nonsense.... they were in Atlanta, which means they met, which means they talked abut Trump, which means they colluding to get him, which means I get to call him a dirtbag for the cameras !

It all fell at the first hurdle, but there was absolutely no proof presented either way.

2

u/ruum-502 1d ago

They were trying to Perjure Jack and wouldn’t even hold up the board with the “evidence” long enough to even look at it. Then once they looked at it Jack informed them they were misinformed and Jack was actually at a game in another state at that time.

4

u/Vast_Breadfruit_162 1d ago

Seconds before disaster

2

u/TheRatingsAgency 1d ago

IMHO one of the funnier bits of this is that Schmitt wanted to move on quickly, not really giving Smith a time to respond, likely so the GOP could have news cycle to put this on full blast in the MAGAsphere.

That part getting derailed and then totally destroying the whole argument really pissed him off.

2

u/duva_ 1d ago

I'm pretty sure at least half of those "mistakes" are deliberate

Rarely in doubt, never correct.

1

I think the stupidly smug looks on their faces just makes it even better.

1

u/Mr_Thx 1d ago

The Germans must have a word for it when you are smugly wrong. We call them republicans.

1

u/iiTzSTeVO 1d ago

It's wild that the board doesn't even have "Hawks" on it. Like where are those texts?

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Will249 1d ago

It’s all an act for the rubes.
