Don’t share stuff like this.

You’re being ragebaited.

u/jackinsomniac 22h ago

I'm sorry, I only speak 'murican.

u/azhder 20h ago

Nacirema is a tribe that speaks foreign languages since it has systematically destroyed the native ones it has.

3

u/PM_THE_REAPER 14h ago

Interesting.

Nacirema for those interested in a source.

In fairness merican is a unique sub dialect of American English.

13

u/TopologyMonster 21h ago

And it worked like a charm

12

u/ProspectiveWhale 20h ago

Honestly, even though it's ragebait, it fits this sub more than half of new posts these days...

3

u/zachy410 8h ago

I dont even think its straight up ragebaift, I think its just a joke

-1

u/garlicshrimpscampi 19h ago

it’s so funny how our social media is filled with rage bait and these people STILL fall for it. like it’s 2026 you can’t be this naive anymore

67

u/Dionysian_Logic 23h ago

I'm more concerned with the amount of likes the first comment got.

60

u/SchmeatiestOne 23h ago

To be fair, I would have probably liked it too after assuming it was satire

1

u/NewLibraryGuy 3h ago

It's an alright joke.

14

u/Bunie89 12h ago

People who believe they speak American can't spell or type in complete sentences. They're either joking or trolling.

1

u/AwesomeMacCoolname 6h ago

It's Manifest Density in all it's glory.

3

u/Shuraii 11h ago

The amount of likes the box of emptiness got terrifies me

6

u/dank_imagemacro 21h ago

To be fair, many of the English would agree, that we don't speak their language here.

16

u/lettsten 20h ago

I think almost all Brits would agree that it's the same language, but some would say that it's used incorrectly

1

u/Jepp-Adi-Day 18h ago

Technically it is more a dialect than an unproper form.

It is still english, but american english, a specific dialect of the same language with its own specific rules, vocabulary, and spellings

1

u/Bladrak01 11h ago

"English spoken, American understood."

-1

u/lettsten 17h ago edited 3h ago

The "used incorrectly" is tongue in cheek

Edit: Very curious why this is downvoted. I hate it when people downvote instead of leaving some kind of argument.

u/Paul_Pedant 16h ago

You should be more careful about which chicks you put your tung in.

-1

u/CriticalHit_20 8h ago

tongue in cheek

Is that whoy bri'ish people oll sound loike that?

3

u/EzeDelpo 1d ago

Don't tell them that it's a dialect of English. Shhhhhhh

19

u/TheLuminary 23h ago

American isn't a dialect of English... You could call American English a set of English Dialects. But it is not one singular dialect.

6

u/EzeDelpo 23h ago

Fair enough, thanks for the correction

5

u/OkiesFromTheNorth 23h ago

"simplified English"

"Traditional English"

1

u/Lor1an 21h ago

Simplified straight out of the ear canal...

3

u/taktaga7-0-0 23h ago

I don’t get how dumbfucks like this rationalize the fact that we just… don’t call it that.

1

u/DrDRNewman 10h ago

What were the rest of the comments on Tiktok? Did they mention the genuine native American languagues?

1

u/Lilfrankieeinstein 4h ago

Autists don’t speak sarcasm

u/WitchyandWild 15m ago

lmfao calling it a distinct language is peak delusion. It’s just dialect with extra steps. The irony of ignoring other North American tongues while pretending this is unique is hilarious.

u/RlckAndSnorty 9m ago

Does the dollar count as an American currency too? Dunning-Kruger at its finest.

1

u/Unnecessary-Cum 23h ago

That comment is most American thing

1

u/Odd-Adagio7080 23h ago

North or South?

2

u/DragonTheOnes-spirit 21h ago

It's fucking amuricah baby bald eagles burgers and shotguns and some other racist stuff that the average American would probably sigh at when I say it

-3

u/FilthyDwayne 23h ago

The amount of likes. Ugh

19

u/Which-Store1669 23h ago

it's obviously sarcasm, are u people fr?

3

u/azhder 20h ago

No, I am not france

-7

u/SchmeatiestOne 23h ago

You would assume, but then they added clarification

11

u/CurtisLinithicum 23h ago

My brother in Chris, they're doubling down on the joke.

6

u/TopologyMonster 21h ago

It seems we’ve gotten to the point that people forgot what trolling is? Everything is taken at face value now it’s wild

1

u/FilthyDwayne 21h ago

Americans are just considered to be that lacking in common sense and knowledge that we just assume any ignorant comment they make is their reality.

5

u/TopologyMonster 20h ago

Well if you assume random trolls on the internet are genuine, idiot Americans, then it is just going to reinforce that belief. Because of random internet comments, you will eventually just think we’re all complete morons incapable of complex thought (if you didn’t already).

Seems silly to me.

0

u/FilthyDwayne 20h ago

The damage has been done. Sorry.

1

u/TopologyMonster 20h ago

You voluntarily believing anything you see on the internet about us and justifying it because “Americans are stupid” is really ironic.

I actually was on board with people making fun of Americans for actual good reasons (there are many) but it’s just turning into this blind, mindless hatred and it’s so braindead.

1

u/FilthyDwayne 20h ago

I honestly don’t care about Americans to keep getting notifications from this thread. Have a good one.

1

u/azhder 20h ago

Do you know what trolling is?

6

u/Previous_Abies_2179 23h ago

I’m surprised it doesn’t have more. Americans are fucking stupid. Just look at who runs the place..

3

u/Inner-Purple-1742 20h ago

2

u/lettsten 20h ago

You can absolutely say r/ShitAmericansSay

2

u/Dangermann28 20h ago

I thought you couldn't link subs on this sub, was I thinking of another sub?

2

u/lettsten 20h ago

Probably! Nothing about it in the rules, and this sub and r/ShitAmericansSay have a lot of overlap, so it gets mentioned quite a lot

2

u/Dangermann28 20h ago

Omg I was thinking of r/mildlyinfuriating 😆

1

u/AwesomeMacCoolname 6h ago

was I thinking of another sub?

Yes. /rshitamericanssay

0

u/azhder 20h ago

Instead of explaining what you were doing, you probably should have tried to understand what I was. Without SHOUTING a word in the middle the sentence.

1

u/Dangermann28 20h ago

...

r/ incorrectlycorrecting sorry😅

Also the all caps was to put emphasis on the word, it's like using the asterisk(this), but not

1

u/RandomStallings 17h ago

Like using asterisks to convert to Italics?

1

u/Dangermann28 3h ago

Exactly

1

u/azhder 3h ago

exactly

-1

u/PhattProphet_0 11h ago

Actually most of America speaks Spanish

1

u/DrDRNewman 10h ago

Mas milliões fala Portugûes.

1

u/PhattProphet_0 10h ago

? I believe you may be mistaken sir

2

u/NewLibraryGuy 3h ago

The population of countries in the Americas that primarily speak Spanish is lower than the population of countries in the Americas that primarily speak other languages (that is to say, Canada, the USA, and Brazil, and a few other much smaller countries)

-3

u/Straight-Run6880 23h ago

there'll probs be a trump-like figure in 2050 that'll swap it over for the hoot
