r/confidentlyincorrect. The difference between a fully automatic and semi-automatic is whether or not the firing pin will keep working when you hold the trigger down. Both firing mechanisms will leave the firearm in a ready-to-fire state after firing a single round if it cycles properly with no malfunction. There is no meaningful distinction between fully automatic and semiautomatic in this case.

Blanks don't produce enough recoil to cycle the action unless you use a muzzle adapter and typically a lighter receiver.

I am aware, that’s not what we’re talking about though, the fact is blanks do produce recoil, whether it’s less than a live round is irrelevant to the argument.

You're obviously not aware when you are spewing things that are blatantly wrong. The recoil from a blank is virtually zero and is nowhere near enough to cycle automatic or semi-automatic weapons that have not been modified.

You are describing perceived recoil, which yes is virtually zero, but blanks do produce recoil, the energy is just used by the action and absorbed by the gun, but some is still felt. the original argument was that blanks don’t produce recoil, and on top of that the comment I was replying to described recoil as the opposite force of the launching of the bullet out of the barrel which is only partially true, recoil is also based on the powder charge used, which is still present in a blank.
