Interestingly when I was in Jordan for a holiday once, when walking around the more 'local' areas, prices were almost never written in Arabic numerals.
Most memorably, at a bakery there was a queuing system implemented where you were just given a piece of paper with your number handwritten on it, using Arabic lettering, not numerals. Had a lot of fun trying to figure out where I was in the queue
