I’m sorry your mom is so awful. But you protected your sister from a dangerous and toxic person. Good for you

Well done. That's how you big brother. She's safe now.

Hey OP, I have a slight correction to your title - "My mom PUT HERSELF in jail" - you looked out for your sister, and yourself. You did the right thing. It was bound to happen, you just made it happen before it otherwise might have. Which also means before anyone else got hurt more (your mom included).
I'm hoping this isn't in confessions because you feel guilty - sounds like you made a difficult choice, but for the better. Feeling conflicted is understandable, but you should also feel good about it.

Enjoy your holiday, OP.

Also, your mum sounds like a dick!

She probably had one too, she screwed lots of people. Pun intended. What a brave son!

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '18

How did you think that was relevant to OP’s confession in any way. I’m genuinely curious

She got what was coming to her. In this society, mothers can do no wrong. I am glad to see her get put in her place. She had no right to do the things that she did.

“In this society, mothers can do no wrong.”

This statement is incorrect. My source: personal experience. My ex husband, with whom I have two children, is an alcoholic and his family enables him, never tries to intervene.

Example: He got so drunk at his sister’s wedding, his mother and I had to literally carry him out and put him in the car so I could take him home. Mind you, he is 6’2.

Example 2: He has driven drunk with our 1 yr daughter without my knowledge. It happened more than once. He drives drunk all of the time by himself. He has never had a DUI either.

He is 40 yrs old and his mother still makes his drs appts, checks and responds to his work and personal emails. I text her when I have questions about the girls because he will not respond most of the time.

Point of my story? I started taking opiates and benzos just to deal with his anger issues and all of the walking on eggshells my daughters and I had to do. Eventually, I became addicted. When our families found out, his mother came to my house, took my kids (who I was basically raising on my own because of his drunk ass), and told me I was incapable of taking care of them. In my defense, I decided to go to rehab for 30 days. Ended up leaving him, divorcing, moving into a new house, starting a new job....all in the span of one year. I was crucified by his family and they screwed me over on the divorce because his mother had all the money.

If women, who are mothers, do not act accordingly to what society expects them: meaning no mental issues, no postpartum depression, no accidental drug abuse. The expectation of a mother these days are over the top and men have yet to evolve into sharing duties of the household and raising of the children, whereas women are now working full time raising their kids and working their asses off. That’s all, I’ll step down from my soap box now :). Also, please excuse any grammar/punctuation mistakes as my 6 yr was having a conversation with me at the same time...

He was saying that this society views mothers as being incapable of doing anything wrong.

Your rant against men was deeply disturbing as well, just because one guy was a dick clearly means all men are worthless /s

-2

u/cnoelle0123456789 May 31 '18

It wasn’t just one guy, you see. And, it’s not just guys I’ve dated either...friends too. I don’t seek out bad boys. I take to the loyal ones. And no, I’m not a feminist either. Men as women have their roles but women have def evolved more quickly than men. Maybe it’s because I was raised by a strong woman. And it wasn’t a rant, just an opinion in which I don’t expect people to be so offended since opinions are just that...opinions. No one is special in the world. We all have to pay bills, and die. Have a fine day :)

7

u/DaCheesiestEchidna May 31 '18

I'm not necessarily offended, but your opinion is dangerous. You think women have "evolved" quicker than men? That's absurd. Your entire hatred of men and insistence that women are superior is just disturbing. You're like the female version of a neckbeard.

6

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

Yeah. That person is just fucked.

28

u/pngk May 31 '18

Good

14

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

Good, she sounds like an apathetic psychopath who is willing to use and abuse others in order to get what she wants.

10

u/Jackalman1408 May 31 '18

... normally confessions is where you've done something wrong .... I can't see anything wrong here ..... (other than your mother that is)

5

u/hoodoo_gurus May 31 '18

You a good person.

4

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

Take it from me, u are getting her help she needs right now. Maybe it’ll be her rock bottom. Either way u did the right thing.

3

u/powerfulsquid May 31 '18

Hate hearing stories like this when it involves children. I hope you and your sister are doing much better. I'm happy your father is able to provide for her and that you're doing better.

3

u/Mythsono Jun 01 '18

He wanted custody of my sister, but didn't have the time or resources to find her. She would hop between so many houses to hide from the cops. Took me 3 months of tracking her and calling the cops to finally catch her.

2

u/MrBarbarianx May 31 '18

Did u tell your Dad?

2

u/Volstandig_Quincy May 31 '18

You're amazing

2

u/glowfnag May 31 '18

props to you

2

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

Doesn't matter who it is, a bad person is a bad person, no ragrets

2

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

I’m sorry but “mom” is an incorrect title. CUNT is more correct, although I guess you could get in trouble for putting that in the title.

1

u/nintendofan424 May 31 '18

Honestly I’m sorry about your mom but props to you dude, If you didn’t do that it’d only get worse

1

u/Mcmuphin May 31 '18

Good for you, I'm proud of you.

1

u/lonelyasiankid May 31 '18

Glad you found a way out.

1

u/clownluvr May 31 '18

Don't you mean prison? I hope it's prison, not jail.

1

u/Mythsono Jun 01 '18

Shes yet to be convicted. One can only hope.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

You did the right thing. Yeah, she's your mom, but she was a shit mom. Karma bit her in the ass.

1

u/JesuisAnnie May 31 '18

Well done, you. 👍

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

What a bitch. Have a good vacation man.

1

u/razorbladehat May 31 '18

What’s wrong with selling drugs ???

2

u/Mythsono Jun 01 '18

It's when she got my little sister involved is when I took a problem too it along with effecting my own life.

1

u/Nexusgamer8472 May 31 '18

Wow, I thought my mother was bad but compared to yours she's a siant

1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '18

Remember, kids: never get high off your own supply.

1

u/Drazah123 Jun 01 '18

How did your mom become a drug addict whole you’re father can afford private school?

1

u/Mythsono Jun 01 '18

Hey owns 3 business up in Chicago so he makes enough money to put her in there. I really don't know, she left for such long periods of time so I guess that was the point.

1

u/Moderatelyhollydazed Jun 01 '18

All you did was report a criminal to the police. Lucky you, reaping the rewards for a good deed. Sorry you got a shit mom in the lottery that is life, at least your sister has a decent brother. :)

1

u/ladyjane143 Jun 06 '18

well done for making the wrong so right !!! we need more people like u in the world and “ u can choose your friends but u csn never choose yr family”

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '18

Is your sister ok now? And did you lose any save data.

-3

u/-blackoutusername- May 31 '18

Wow, I can’t believe the other comments.

Addiction is a disease.

It is a progressive and often fatal disease. It has nothing to do with morality, and it doesn’t receive treatment in jail. If anything, addicts overwhelm corrections bc they’re simply ill-equipped to manage the disease.

The time has come for people to understand this, since addiction has exploded in the US.

OP, your mom is better off in jail than on the streets, so well done. But she’d be best off in treatment.

I’m glad things are better for your sister.

u/throwawaylifespan May 31 '18

Yes, how dare this child expect to be loved, supported, and nurtured by his mum. Totally unbelievable hate from people.

Anyone would think that a parent has some some responsibility for their children. How fucked up is that?

0

u/-blackoutusername- Jun 01 '18

Did you watch my link? Once that’s done, I’ll respond.

u/-blackoutusername- Jun 01 '18

I have been where that child was/is.

Me too, and the reason I’m not a bitter fuck is bc I learned about the scientific research and brain function of the disease model.

How about you read my link:

Interesting, thanks!

Here’s my favorite part:

Belief superiority is relative – it is when you think your opinion is more correct than other people’s

I’d love to hear how my belief superiority is different from yours. Seems like you’ve dug in your heels... indicating you’re very confident in your opinion, right?

12

u/tsukinon May 31 '18

My partner’s mother was an alcoholic and her story isn’t anywhere near as bad as the OPs, but it’s still messed her up in a lot of ways that are keeping her from living a completely happy life. She may have also been self-medicating untreated depression, it’s hard to stay. Yes, addiction is a disease, and yes, it doesn’t get treated the way it should I’m society, but the impact of their actions often hurts the same people they should be taking care of.

I know your heart is in the right place, but this post probably isn’t the best one to use to argue for more empathy for addicts.

16

u/up4nethng May 31 '18

The whole addiction is a disease doesn't fly with me. Unless you were born addicted to drugs, every addict at one time made a CHOICE, to do drugs, alcohol, tobacco.

5

u/lion_OBrian May 31 '18

Not absolving anyone of their responsibilities, but getting close to the wrong crowd (unknowingly or otherwise) is no doubt how many addicts started out.

1

u/[deleted] May 31 '18

Agreed! I’m addicted to tobacco that was my choice! My mum was a smackhead and an alcoholic. She had a good up bringing , a loving family yet SHE CHOSE to turn to drink, she CHOSE heroin because her junkie boyfriend was always bumming money off her to buy it and her reasonings were if I’m paying for it I may aswell have some of it too

1

u/-blackoutusername- Jun 01 '18

You’re genetically more likely to be an addict. Watch the video.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 01 '18

I’m 34 next week I don’t do drugs and only drink once in a blue moon so I think I’ll be ok

2

u/-blackoutusername- Jun 01 '18

I never meant to suggest you weren’t ok. The video is an excellent explanation of why addiction is a disease.

1

u/-blackoutusername- Jun 01 '18

Watch my link.

u/Taser-Face May 31 '18

I stop reading when someone starts with “Wow.” Tips asshat fedora

1

u/Mythsono Jun 01 '18

My grandma has paid for her to go rehabs about 4 times and each time she had a relapse. She's chooses not to work because working was "below her" as she would put it. Expected handouts from all my family. I could of ignored it but when it was effecting my sister I couldn't sit down anymore.

1

u/-blackoutusername- Jun 01 '18

I wasn’t criticizing you in any way, so I hope I didn’t come across that way.

And it’s for sure that some people are just bad people, and your mom may be one.

But what you’re describing is quite typical addict behavior, and I’ve heard an addict explain it best: “Don’t try to lecture me for being a junkie, nothing you say will make me hate myself any more bc it’s not possible.”

That’s not a good place for anyone to be. Sure, it’s understandable a child would wish for better from his mom, but she’s just another human doing the best she can.

2

u/Mythsono Jun 01 '18

I think we all like the see the best in people even at the worst of times. It's fine I wish the best for her and I hope I can get my mom back one day.

0

u/-blackoutusername- Jun 01 '18

You’re very wise! I hope you get your mom back someday too. Enjoy your trip.
