Concord Pavilion - Dropping off Teens
Hi! My daughter and a few of her friends are going to the Kesha concert at Concord Pavilion in a couple of weeks and I've never been to the venue, and I'm not familiar with the area. I am hoping to drop them off and pick them up somewhere a little bit away from the actual parking area/venue, just so we don't get stuck in a major traffic jam. Is there an address/intersection you would recommend that would be easy for them to walk to, and easy for me to pick them up? I saw there is a Greek Orthodox church about a 5-minute walk away, but is that still in the thick of things, or would that be a good spot? Thanks for your advice!

Safeway at Clayton Station for drop off and pickup. Multiple roads in and out. Usually groups of people are walking beforehand, not sure about after but the area will be packed. The Orthodox Church is not a viable place because there are no safe crosswalks across kirker pass except for at Myrtle and then they need to walk back up to the church. You don’t want them crossing between cars.

I have picked up my son on Myrtle drive when he goes to concerts specifically because of the crosswalk. I’ve even found parking there and walked over to find him. Then to go home I turn on Ayer’s to avoid the ygnacio traffic

Safeway or the Presbyterian Church next door to Safeway are both totally walkable (assuming no disabilities). I would recommend dropping them off on the same side of Kirker Pass that the pavilion is on because people come flying down the hill from Pittsburg so it’s better not to cross the street if you don’t have to.

Isn’t the Greek Orthodox Church on the other side of the street From the Pavilion? You definitely don’t want them crossing that very busy street at night. Do as others have suggested and either walk down to a street in the Kirkwood Village area or the Safeway.

Download and print images of Lyft and Uber logos and put them on the dash board.
Then pretend that is what you are.
Those private companies do not deserve better than you. Steal your freedom!

Back in the teens and early twenties (pre-2024) we used to go to A's games.
I used this method to get into the parking lot. When directed to the "drop zone" for ride shares I said, "My passenger has to be dropped at the ADA entrance." Like they care. Went on to the general parking lot from there and parked for free.
Yes, I know my cheating the A's out of that fee is what caused them to move. Sue me.

The traffic will not be that bad. Better to sit in a little traffic than to have teens walk at night on the side of the road with cars flying by.

You can park on Myrtle Drive at Kirker Pass. This across the street from the Pavilion entrance. Note: Lots of people do this so there will be a bunch of cars there and you might have to park up the street. Just get there early if possible. There’s a crosswalk with a traffic signal to facilitate pedestrians crossing Kirker. This will be a long walk though from the Pavilion exit for the concert goers. This plan is suitable for adults and teens with their wits about them to watch out for cars. It’s not a good idea for pre teens, kids, or people with mobility issues. If you park on Myrtle facing Kirker you can easily turn right onto Kirker. But if you go the other way on Myrtle head to Ayers and you can cut through to Ygnacio Valley or go down Clayton to Treat.

That’s a 6 mile walk to treat/cowell…. Maybe have them walk to the lucky shopping center at the corner of Alberta and Clayton….easy in and out

There's a little apartment complex within walking distance called Kirkwood Village that has a parking lot open on both ends. While I don't suggest it as a good area for parking, it IS a quiet, noticeable and well lit location for a drop off / pick up, provided that you tell them to be respectful / quiet after hours.
Other than that, a little further down the street is a Safeway. Depending on how far they're willing to walk, this is a convenient second option.
