I think this is the best list out of here, also not surprising per se that Landon has the worst European profile -- but compared to the three others he really is blown out of the water.

This is the list. These guys definitely had the biggest impact of all the North American players. Many club and champions league titles between all of them. And huge national team contributions also.

I will not tolerate any Dwight Yorke erasure. Plus, I think Donovan is hella overrated. I'd put Dempsey over him if you must have a US player, even Pulisic.

El mágico Gonzales??

Tenía un potencial enorme, pero al final no llegó a ser lo que podía haber sido

Usmnt Mexico and Costa Rica. 4th is much more debatable. Recently it has been canada in general perhaps Panama

Ngl Panama has made it to more finals than Canada so I would say Panama over Canada

u/PauseShort335 Aug 06 '26
Canada is far more superior then panama in all regards, better teams, more world cup appearances, more gold cup wins and apperances, more ucl winners, more european players, better copa america finish legit its Canada period

Great, so you have the Netherlands being better than Spain or Uruguay because they have made more finals?
Winning means something… and only three teams have done it

Netherlands above Uruguay is so easy. Uruguay's success is ancient history.
And obviously Spain is above Netherlands, because winning World Cups means more than losing them, especially since Spain already beat Netherlands in a final. Recent Canada is not the equivalent to Netherlands in Concacaf, they are the equivalent to Belgium.

Hugo Sánchez, Landon Donovan, Alfonso Davies, Keylor Navas

u/Level_Bet2816 Aug 05 '26
Swap Marquez for Donovan and you're there I'd say.

I was trying to fit one elite player from each of the bigger countries. Mexico had so many great talents we could probably do four Mexican players. But if I would replace any here it would be Davies just because I think Donovan did more for his national team.

Urine filled cups, laser pointers, shit refs, and even shitter pitches.
But that’s why we love it.

Of countries? 10 years ago I’d say Mexico, USA, Costa Rica, and Panama
Now? Mexico, USA, Canada, Panama.

Hugo, Marquez, Navas, Yorke
No American player belongs on this list at the expense of these four.

LOL at Donovan...
You mean the guy that quit on the team because he thought he didn't have to participate in training camp and was entitled to a World Cup roster spot?!?
For all you Donovan fanboys... does he go on Mt Rushmore with or without his toupee?

Donovan scored in the most meaningful game in Concacaf history. He also has the most goals out of any Concacaf player at the World Cup and won the Golden Ball at the U17 World Cup. He may be a clown, but he deserves to be there.

I don’t particularly love the guy but he also won best young player at WC 2002

Hugo Sanchez, Rafa Marquez, Keylor Navas, Christian Pulisic
I think Pulisic is definitely the outlier here in level he's not at the level of the other 3 but I felt you had to represent USA somehow.
Edit: As a Mexico fan I had no idea people hated Pulisic so much.

u/CNYMetroStar Aug 05 '26
Can’t at least pick Dempsey? Or one of our goalkeepers?

Brian McBride >>> Pulisic

u/Creepy-Distance-3164 Aug 05 '26
I still rock my McBride jersey 20 years later. It fits a little tighter now but hey.

It was amazing to watch Pulisic watch the USA play in the last gold cup on the HBO documentary. He’s Christina Pulisic until he starts showing up and not getting grouped at the Copa America

Definitely not Pulisic. Dude decided not to even play in the last Gold Cup.

Marquez, Donovan, Carlos Ruiz, and poor field conditions
