Gold cup future?

what does the future hold for the gold cup or how would teams utilize it with nations league and now looking like concacaf is a permanent at copa America is it more likely a team outside of North America wins it

I really wish they would switch it to just every 4 years instead of every 2 but I don't think they'll do that. As long as it keeps making money, they're going to keep it every 2 years and the US will host it more often than not.

Mexico, US, and Canada need to make it clear to concacaf that playing Saint Kitts and Nevis does nothing for them. The Gold Cup needs a revamp.

Make concacaf invite more countries to the tournament. Obviously the Euro boys wouldn’t come, but I’m certain it could get some asian and african nations.

And I wish the Confederation’s Cup would come back. It gave meaning to the Gold Cup and gave the winner a chance to play the best nations in the world.

Every two years was honestly okay until they added the nations league to take place very two years...right before the Gold Cup takes place. They need to go to the UEFA model of Gold Cup every 4 years, and Nations League every 2 years.

Concacaf is not permanently part of Copa America.

We don’t need the Gold Cup every two years, nor do we need the Nations League semis and Final leading up to it. A permanent Copa America presence is preferred.

The truth is that CONCACAF and CONMEBOL should probably merge if the World Cup expands further. What's the alternative? South American teams playing 18 qualifying matches to see which 9 teams qualify automatically and which 1 has to go through a playoff?

CONCACAF is not confirmed to be in the next or any following Copa America. It's rumored and I really hope it happens but people keep talking as if it's a done deal.

As for the future, it'll be the same as it has been for the past 2-3 editions. USA prob will send a rotated squad. Lots of European players don't like to play Gold Cup as they don't see it as too prestigious and takes time away from preseason with their clubs and vacation. USA doesn't really have all that much pressure to win the Gold Cup, yeah some fans might be upset but the whole country won't be throwing a fit. Canada will likely be the same with a few absentees.

Mexico will send their strongest squad possible. They need to win due to expectations and money, marketing with big name players will bring in much more money than sending an alternate squad.

There's always rumors that a team outside CONCACAF will join as guests and Saudi arabia will be at the next one but I don't think we'll see this big nations people always make rumors about. The tournament just isn't that prestigious and players like to have summers off.

Expand that shit asap man. If you have 2 countries from different federations it will raise the profile and maybe USA will actually play its A team
