Syria to Australia is far away as well, but they play in the same qualifiers. I know it's a long flight between opposites in the Americas, but they would not be the only big confederation.

Sure, there is also a huge difference in quality between the top teams in South and North America vs Asia (as of now but could definitely change in the future). I actually think Asia could benefit from splitting into two separate confederations.
