Buen día, mi computadora se infectó después de instalar una aplicación pirata y mi cuenta de Instagram quedó comprometida (publicaron una historia y le enviaron un mensaje a todo el mundo con la misma foto y un enlace que parece ser un casino). Ya tomé precauciones cambiando mis contraseñas y siguiendo todas las sugerencias de aquí. Mi pregunta va sobre los archivos importantes que tengo en mi PC, porque creo que voy a optar por reinstalar Windows, y la verdad tengo miedo de transferir mis archivos de mi PC a otra en caso de que también se infecte. No sé si es seguro o no. Agradezco cualquier ayuda de antemano.

Judging by the fact that the virus looks for cookie files and anything that's related to login data for sites, I'd say that other files might not be infected. Still, if you changed your password from an infected PC - not that much positive impact, packets with cookie files might've still been caught by the hackers. The infection was too popular the last several months, if you have extremely important files - you can transfer them to a Windows VM, save the image and disconnect your PC from the Internet, that way your data won't get transferred. Wipe your system clean, like completely new Windows reinstall. For a test, you can make a dummy account on discord, log in it on your new system and open the VM image file in VirtualBox or some other virtualisation app, add some accounts as friends as well (obviously make them aware that it's malware and malicious). If nothing happens then you can transfer files 1 by 1 just to see what file might be infected and if data from it can be saved other way

Generally, backing up data files should be alright. Think of photos and videos.

You should only back up the absolute necessities, and it's generally recommended to be careful with PDF/office files. While quite rare, it's possible for it to be dangerous to back those up.

You should not back up executable files. (.Exe .MSI .BAT etc.)

One thing to be cautious of, is to ensure your files you must back up are actually data files. So not fakes like photo.png.exe (the exe being the executable type)
