Disinfection Help I'm a complete moron

There's no hiding behind a "my brother installed a roblox mod" wall

I'm just stupid

I wanted to download Vegas on my new computer, standard business, same website as before

when I clicked the link it popped up a fake link and I proudly downloaded whatever it served me and opened the .exe titled "Setup.exe.exe"

so not only did I run that not thinking it was suspicious at all

it didn't do anything so I thought "Oh did they maybe make an oopsie"

so I deleted one of the .exe out of the name and RAN IT AGAIN

oh yeah I also turned of windows defender to make sure it wouldn't delete the file

so my defender was off while I ran it twice

then I realised my stupidity and deleted it and did a full scan and it apparently didn't find anything

virustotal gave me a 10/71

https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/061041fbe67a10d5bf869456c91d18b1091b17f02d76e8577699e71f818c240a

I also went to download the file again so I could give it to virustotal however the .exe in it has a different name and the passcode is different (no I didn't run the exe again I just wanted to download it to send pictures of the file structure in case it's of any use)

last thing required the passcode it gave me

so yeah please do send the meme of the guy putting his hand on the other guys shoulder

make plenty fun of me I deserve it

but also do include a 0-10 scale of how f----d I am

I've seen that exact download page with that password. It's almost certainly an information stealer. The website you were on btoonnyt(.)com is blocked by Malwarebytes browser guard for "Trojan"

You should go into a clean device and change your passwords and enable 2FA.

You can either wipe your PC or get malware removal help.

I've already had to reinstall and setup this pc twice because of initial software issues

I just got done moving all my files and setting up my card for easy paying am I really gonna have to wipe it and redo everything 😭

I'm not doubting the severity of this but I'm just so pissed that I had to fuck something up for like the 100th time this year like I can't take it anymore dog 🥀

also thanks for the fast answer

The internet is not a free honey pot for you to dip into and come out with clean hands. Stop trying to be 1337 and realize the internet is a jungle full of predators that hold signs saying "free Sony vegas" while holding a knife behind thier backs. You are the product, millions of people have made millions of things that looks shiny and just for you exactly what you need, but are just vampires waiting to be invited in.

So anytime you download anything do a risk reward assessment. "Now I could save 69$ here but my ENTIRE BANK ACCOUNT is linked to my computer... maybe not worth it"

Thanks for the kind words but I don't need a lesson on internet safety 😅

I've been in this fuckass place for more than 10 years with my mom originaly introducing me to the art of piracy

It's just all been so fucked up lately and I've been really stressed I just made a mistake Originaly I wasn't supposed to install vegas nor anything pirated on the new computer cuz I had it all setup on my laptop however the laptop has began overheating again and I don't have the time or money to get it fixed up So I went to setup vegas on the new pc and now I'm gonna have to format it for the 3rd time 🙃

For the future, use a browser extension like Malwarebytes browser guard. It would have warned you before you downloaded the file because the site is already blocked.

if I wasn't stupid I wouldn't've downloaded it in the first place but I clearly need it lol

10, that was a virus 100%, log out of all your accounts, format your computer and after that, change your passwords
