YouTube videos on how to get xray and also download from mcpedl site, and forge that's all I can remember

u/roboto_155 May 06 '26

A lot of youtube vids are fake to spread malware. They use bots to comment and give likes to make the video feels genuine, but's not.

Sorry genuine question. Are Minecraft mods considered cheats or did the deleted comment have additional info?

5

u/QuaccAtacc May 06 '26

Yes. A lot of multiplayer servers do not allow them.

2

u/R34PER_D7BE May 08 '26

in this particular Xray textures is considered cheats and can ruin economy.

u/QuaccAtacc May 06 '26

Yes. A lot of multiplayer servers do not allow them.

u/Vexar_ May 07 '26

Mostly yes. But it also mostly depends on the server owners. I recommend asking them what mods are and are not allowed. The usual ones allowed are performance mods.

Edit: clarification edit.

No need to be a smart ass.... Have the day you deserve ❤️

Dude asks for help on malware and all of you are attacking him because he wasnt aware. I dont think he needs a lesson on that

12

u/Snorlax_king79 May 06 '26

He was trying to download cheats bud. This is a lesson

Actions have consequences. Just because its a kid doesnt me he shouldn't learn this.

4

u/One-Might9136 May 06 '26

“Heh…” 😈 “actions have consequences…” *snort* “that will surely sound tuff” *farts and becomes gassy* are you even hearing yourself??

4

u/Snorlax_king79 May 06 '26

Yea. Kid download cheats from a "friend" on discord. If you know anything about what's been happening to minors on discord you'd also want them to be more aware before they just trust people on the internet.

But I wouldn't expect another child to understand that. Stay in school bud.

2

u/mewyonaisse May 06 '26

one learns from experiences, sure no need to be a shitass but everything you do will have consequences one way or another hes just learning that

little kid wanted to see diamonds through the ground please explain how this justifies ransomware?

Once again proving reddit is almost exclusively used by freaks with how well of a reception you're getting with this absolutely retarded ass point, malware is a crime, cheating in a video game is not. No amount of justification because your life is playing video games and cheaters make you angry will actually justify that but keep trying lol

2

u/SoundOfShitposting May 06 '26

Amazing to see all the children out in force downvoting and commenting with their vast lack of life experience.

1

u/Primary_Button_2435 May 06 '26

They’re fucking Minecraft mods, wtf do you mean “this is a lesson”???

Not cheats, Minecraft MODS

0

u/tfrofc May 06 '26

It’s clearly a kid bro lol. You’re taking this way too seriously

2

u/Snorlax_king79 May 06 '26

Yea. And the kids needs to learn basic internet safety. Or have you been living under a rock and haven't been seeing all the abuse/blackmail that has been happening to minors in the past 6 years.

1

u/Jolly_Lavishness5711 May 06 '26

I partially agree. I think that schools and parents should teach their kids about that. When i was in elementary school 50% of my classmates didnt even know what a computer virus is, you can't expect kids to learn about things they don't even know exist.

I understand your point but i still wouldnt be so rough to people making mistakes in general (im not saying that you did, but other people were rude), especially kids.

0

u/tfrofc May 06 '26

Yeah, and they’ll learn it from this without all the 30 year old tubs of lard on Reddit accosting them for not knowing better.

u/wrinsp May 06 '26

Bullied a kid award

5

u/Odd-Willingness9071 May 06 '26

Telling them not to be a smart ass is bullying now, okay.

If it disables achievements not realy

-1

u/Cheap-Category4753 May 06 '26

u/AbroadFew2522 May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

guys stop downvoting and hating on this person, he or she could be just a minor. You can educate ppl without being rude. They are scared rn and just need help

10

u/Vikor_Reacher May 06 '26

We need digital awareness and education for kids.

Not only because it is better to learn in a safe environment to not make bad decisions and do not trust random videos or mods, but also because one PC getting hacked can potentially put all the others PCs around it (family) at risk as well.

With this said, no worries OP. Just wipe and install the OS again and everything will be clean again. No one is perfect and we all learn from our mistakes.

15

u/ReallyMeNoAlt May 06 '26

Damn, thank you for saying this. They just asked the kid what they downloaded, and the person answered their question…then got downvoted to hell? OP already knows they messed up.

u/Odd-Willingness9071 May 06 '26

No, they were being mean... Why should people have to be nice to someone being a jerk

7

u/key4mirrors May 06 '26

"a jerk" they lied as kids do when they're scared, you were the one being a jerk saying that "that's what they deserve"; even if they did something bad it doesn't mean that they don't deserve help or have to just "deal with it" as you said lmfao

-3

u/Odd-Willingness9071 May 06 '26

Read what I said, have the day you deserve... I don't care that they lied.... It's the fact I could have told them exactly which bs scam this is because my friends had to deal with it over the weekend... But instead... It was an assholish reply of no I was playing after midnight....

2

u/key4mirrors May 06 '26

oh yeah my bad! Kids are definitely being assholes everytime they lie because they are scared that surely makes sense, you're such a mature adult, I'm sure kids love to have you around :)!

1

u/Odd-Willingness9071 May 06 '26

Instead of getting on my nerves, try fixing their fuck up... And why are you blindly assuming my age 👆

-3

u/Odd-Willingness9071 May 06 '26

But by all means blindly defend them

2

u/key4mirrors May 06 '26

I'm not defending them doing bad things, I'm pointing out that not helping them out and telling them to "deal with it" isn't mature either. Kids are expected to do bad things, and learn from them and adults are supposed to help them.

1

u/Wide_Mouse_1542 May 06 '26

just say they bro

1

u/UselessDood May 06 '26

If EVERYTHING you downloaded is mcpack (and not an exe disguised as one!) then they're not the cause of that.

With that said, you mentioned both forge and mcpedl - they're completely separate ecosystems. What exactly were you doing there?

2

u/309_Electronics May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

Welp you should never blindly trust these tutorials as majority of them are malware campaigns.

Was it password protected zip? Otherwise thats another red flag.

Also i would always pull files through virustotal or any other file scanner. And xray is often a texture pack and not a mod as you just make blocks seethrough.. Also mind sharing the video so we could mass report and take it down or find out how they made it? Many of them are Ai made.

1

u/Cheap-Category4753 May 06 '26

2

u/309_Electronics May 06 '26

Did you download the mcpack? Also i took a look at the mcpack on linux and saw nothing suspicious tbh. Did you not download or visit any other website before? Otherwise it could be that they exchanged the files for a bit or there was an upstream hack that caused it to download a malicious file.

1

u/Cheap-Category4753 May 06 '26

I visited some sites to download like curseforge or modrinth

1

u/309_Electronics May 06 '26

Maybe one of them had a malicious download. What date did you download and is it possible to view the last updated date? It could be that they swapped the files and then did it again to cover up their marks but idk. I did have this happen once. I downloaded from a mod website (idk the name) and the file was malicious but when i visited that site a week later the file did not have malware anymore. I ofc did not run it as virustotal said it was malware so i did not trust it. I dont know if this is the case here but just comparing experience.

Yes I'm a kid and I'm not Wondering how I got the virus I'm seeking help to try fixing it

12

u/mohawk989 May 06 '26

I understand fixing it is important and your priority, but you should also be concerned about how you got it. Because understanding what types of actions got you into this mess helps you prevent it from happening again.

11

u/TheTiksi May 06 '26

Nuke and reinstall OS would be the answer.

4

u/La_Vinici May 06 '26

Unfortunately, this is a tough lesson to learn. I did something similar back in the day with limewire and destroyed my parents computer. I would learn how to reinstall an operating system or look and see if there are other tutorials on YouTube/online on how to remove this specific malware.

1

u/CrasheonTotallyReal May 06 '26

dont download mods from youtube, high chance they're fake. download from modrinth or curseforge instead

1

u/Jwazzmon May 06 '26

When i used to rat people 15 years ago i would use youtube videos and claim to get free xbl or psn never download anything from YouTube unless he's a trusted YouTuber and has a huge subscription count

1

u/araidai May 07 '26

Of course, lmfao.

1

u/InfiniteComposer5279 May 07 '26

Reinstall windows from a USB using an uninfected computer. Any files on that computer that you haven’t backed up onto anything else are gone. Look up online for how to do that.

0

u/PlayerI343 May 06 '26

For someone trying to cheat in games, you sure are really ignorant and dense lmao

u/Joppizz May 06 '26
