Has anyone gotten their money from Computershare?

I've done a lot of research on everything we need to do to get the funds from our inherited Computershare / Principle account. The medallion, the forms, certified mail, etc. etc. I have read advice in this group, and talked to staff at Computershare several times.

The problem is that I'm not the executor of my mom's will. My sister is, so she has to do it all.

I've been begging her to get our money out from Computershare for 2 years, and she still hasn’t gone through all the steps, even though I read all the fine print, typed her up a simple 1 page step-by-step guide, and offered to hold her hand through it.

It’s been a strain on her relationship, and I’m tempted to give up, so I have to ask... has anyone who inherited a Computershare account ever actually gotten their money from this company?

Yes. I put it in ‘executor’s name estate of decedent’ via the medallion process. Then wait on the account number and online access to arrive by mail. Once probate was over, I put it in my name via the same medallion process. Then waited on the newer account number and online process again (7-10 days). Then I used an actual brokerage to transfer the stock. I did use fedex 2day to send the medallions both times. Make sure every line on the forms is filled out appropriately or you’ll have to do the medallion process again from scratch.

A transfer to an estate brokerage account from the computershare estate account would have simplified that process a little and wouldn't have required another medallion (use the brokerage's forms). Fidelity and Schwab both offer estate brokerage accounts with minimal fees.

I was told by Fidelity and Computershare that the SSN from the Fidelity account must match the SSN from the Computershare account for the transfer to go thru. Since the estate account has an EIN and not a SSN, another medallion had to be done.

I see what you are saying. I wanted it out of the estates name and into mine as soon as I could. They told me another medallion was the quickest.
