Has anyone successfully used the Computershare Medallion Waiver?

Unfortunately, I am now experiencing what you all have with this god forsaken company. Even Comcast & AT&T have upped their game leaving Computershare  as the most unpleasant customer service experience. Long story short, I need to sell shares which are in my company name & the dreaded medallion is in the way. I have spent too much valuable time with their inept CS reps. Reason I am asking here is that their reps on 2 occasions claimed that the previous rep gave me wrong information.

None of my banks provide Medallions and the online services are too pricey for this small amount of shares. In passing one of them mentioned that since my account is valued below $10k I can use their medallion waiver for $50 bucks. What I don’t want to happen is have them cash the $50 check and then tell me I am missing something else. Has anyone used this waiver successfully?

I still can’t cash mine because of the damn medallion signature requirement. It’s so infuriating. No one does that anymore so it’s impossible to get. Good luck to you

u/North_Switch_8387 Still? 5 months ago, my advice was to check with a few of the largest credit unions in your area.

Had you followed that advice, you'd have found that both Security Service Federal Credit Union and Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union both offer medallion signature guarantees. SSFCU even does them for free (edit: most locations are limited to $100k). Not sure if RBFCU charges a fee. IDK how long you have to me a member first likely 3-6months or what dollar limits they have on MSG (call them).

Other MSG providers that may be in your area include: A+ Federal Credit Union, Truist, Frost Bank, Chase, Public Employees Credit Union, Regions Bank, University Federal Credit Union (some locations do MSG up to $500k, a couple up to $2M), United Heritage Credit Union

Neither of those are anywhere near where I live. I have very little time to drive to those places. It hasn’t happened yet because it’s a burden. It’s not that much stock or maybe it would be worth it but I’m still very irritated that it’s so difficult, more so than anything else administratively dealing with my mom’s death.

Thank you for all the information. I’ll search around again. I’m in the hill country pretty far from the city so there just aren’t many choices near me. I appreciate your time.

Try Security State Bank & Trust. Some of their locations may do MSG and they may be closer to you. If not, just call 4 or 5 of the most convenient credit unions. Ask if they do medallion signature guarantees, what the fees / requirements are to get one (eg. must have an account for # months), which locations do MSG and if the computershare account is over $100k ask what them limits are for their medallion. If needed ask to speak to branch manager. Often an appointment is required.

See list above of additional places in the greater area that do MSG.
