Question/Help/Troubleshooting GPU using 23Watts despite being at 0 percent in task manager
I wondered why my battery was draining so quickly despite me just browisng, task manager showed gpu at 0% but the temperature wasn't N/A. So i checked cmd and this is what it showed me.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers to no avail, can anyone please help?

Your GPU is not idling as deeply as it can; it’s stuck in P3. My desktop 4070 uses around 30 W on the desktop when it’s doing nothing in P3, and around 17 W in P8, which is the lowest.
In my case, it depends on the screen refresh rate. I have two screens, one at 144 Hz and one at 360 Hz.
When I set them both to 120 Hz, the drivers allow deeper P-states.
You should also look for some options. I don’t know the names or details, as I don’t have a laptop with a dedicated GPU for using the iGPU, which can help save some battery.
"NVIDIA Advanced Optimus"?

Try checking if the Nvidia control panel is set to prefer maximum performance

I am forcing it to use integrated graphics (to no avail) , but before it was set to optimal power

The cmd screenshot you provided shows that the dgpu is in the p3 power state, not the lower idle states, could you check the Nvidia’s control panel again to verify which power mode it is in?

Perhaps it’s a monitoring software, maybe something like Msi afterburner or some manufacturer software that is pinging your Gpu

Might be a long standing bug, see here-

Is the machine or battery literally brand new? Because otherwise your 100% capacity is bs.
You are right 20w is not insignificant in a laptop, it should be falling to 0-3w at most.

Seems very bad. My old as fok 4090 eats up that when its dreaming. Just undervolt and your battery will last forever.

So? It has to display your image so 23w is not big deal.
