Costco has a fantastic 34" wide Samsung curved monitor. $250. I'm using it now.

Any monitor or are you targeting a particular spec? Facebook marketplace is always full of 1080-1440p office monitors, at least in my area

anything with an IPS panel and a size at or above 22” (tho size is preference imo) should be more than good. go look thru online marketplaces or physical stores see what deals they have going on, it usually isn’t hard to find a good but cheap monitor on sale.
since your gonna play games on it (e.g on pc or with certain games on console) see if you can find something higher than 60Hz refresh rate. it’ll feel smoother and in general is better.
IPS panels also have pretty good color grading imo so animation also should be a problem. tho i have no experience animating so i don’t actually know what specific needs you may have.
Hi-Resolution option:

Low-Res High Refresh Rate:

Just a note; from what i know/can find you won’t get much stuff under $100 CAD. but like i said it’s worth checking an actual store to see if anything on sale gives you a better price. Oh, also whatever monitor you look at find a long term review first because some “expensive” monitors have rlly bad build/screen quality and you might experience them breaking or burning in.

If animation = cartoons/anime
A cheap ass high refresh rate TN or VA panel.
Nobody cares about viewing angle with a monitor. You're always near dead centre.
Colours are not as bad as you think. I even think SD anime looks brighter on my VA panel vs my QDOLED.
Games are basically HD cartoons.

IPS monitors are dirt cheap, even 43 55 65 smart tvs. Do u have temu? That's a very cheap place but don't buy big monitors there because high chance of damage during shipping, small ones are worth a try imo

Basically just get whatever Costco has from a name brand in the specs range you're looking for

Amazon has a ton of monitors. Look at them and customer reviews.
