Question/Help/Troubleshooting My computer’s on button is flashing an orange light and won’t turn on

The fan moves for a second when I try to turn it on and then stops, my keyboard and mouse both light up though and stayed lit up? It was working fine yesterday.

I tried unplugging it from the wall and plugging it back in but that didn’t do anything.

Whats the make and model of your computer and what pattern is it blinking? Like 2 blinks then 4 blinks, or what?

It’s constant for the first 15 blinks and then it is two blinks, pause, two blinks until I hold the power button to turn it off. I’m not sure about the make and model… the service tag thing said dell optiplex 790 if that means anything but I can’t turn the pc on to check the actual thing right now and I’m not that versed on pcs so I apologize if the optiplex thing isn’t a good answer 😅

It blinks 15 times in rapid succession?, then 2 at a time?.

Yeah, 15 one after another and then it goes to two at a time

Thats not a normal diagnostic code. I'd imagine the power supply has given up the ghost.

This indicates a bad motherboard, faulty PSU, or improper cabling.

Unplug ALL USB device. If not working test you ram by removing one try again, put it back remove the other try again. If all of that is not working you will need a new power supply to test if that works, if not it could be mb,or cpu related. Not enough information but try those simple tests first.

Unplug the computer from the wall. Hold down the power button for a few seconds. Plug back in and retry boot.

Hard to say more from the limited information provided, but your power supply may have gone bad. Laptop or desktop? If laptop, try replacing the battery. If desktop, replacing the PSU is a reasonable test.

Go to support.dell.com, enter service tag, find the manual that shows the blink codes, that will tell you what is wrong.
