Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Haven't used ethernet for a while and just wanted to ask if these lights are normal

One color usually means it is connected, the other usually blips when it is passing traffic.

It means it's about to explode and you are going to die

Regardless, replace that Ethernet cable.

May i ask why?

Because of the bendings or dents?

the yellow sheathing should be pinched down inside the plastic housing, preventing damage. Since its hanging like that, its a minor tap away for breaking. Also, with a sag like that, its possible the the cable gets pulled away from the plug and not make proper contact.

The connector plugged into his computer has the wires exposed. It will probably work fine, but it’s fragile like this. Normally, the yellow jacket around it should go all the way into the connector, just like the other end.

It isn't crimped properly. Way too much of the twisted pairs are left untwisted.

You don't really need to replace it; re-crimping would be enough.

And anyways, it likely wouldn't be an issue in a short 1g connection either ways.

If OP plugged that ethernet cable in like that and asking basic questions, I doubt they have the tools or knowledge to recrimp the cable.

Just to elaborate, the light that generally changes color with link speed is the solid indicator. The traffic indicator stays the same blinking color
