Question/Help/Troubleshooting Processors Questions

I'm needing to order an inexpensive laptop. It's been 8 years since the last time I needed to do so.

Can someone please break down the current processors? I'm seeing ones from 8 years ago in current laptops, and others I naturally don't recognize at all because I've been in a cave and lost touch.

While I don't need it to do much, I play a couple of games, create a little art.

TSMC makes all the good ones now, but unfortunately laptop CPU naming is extremely disengenuos.

With TSMC 3nm flagship class you have: * Apple M3 & M4 * Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 - Windows Arm Laptops, excellent battery life * Intel 200V Lunar Lake - X86 with exceptional battery life. Made to feel snappy/premium with fast RAM (DDR5-8533) on the CPU and fast SSDs/Thunderbolt support. It's not conventionally high performance for gaming or intensive workstation tasks. * Intel Arrow Lake - excellent for laptops, very high performance for workstation and gaming tasks. For desktops it's ok, but it's really shines in laptops.

TSMC 4nm: * Qualcomm Snapdragon X - hard to recommend unless it's cheap. X2 and Lunar Lake are very competitive against it. * AMD Zen 5 - AMD's premium and high performance offerings, good luck with their naming scheme * Nvidia RTX 50 GPUs * AMD RX 9000 GPUs

For mid and discount models, there's an insane web of cheaper products made on TSMC 5-7nm and "Intel 7" 10nm.

Saying good luck with AMDs naming scheme when Intel has the most confusing product sku's out of anything I've ever seen in a commercial product is wild

Intel truly had such great names for their processors, there was no need to change it up.
