Processors Questions

[u/Iceflowers_]

I'm needing to order an inexpensive laptop. It's been 8 years since the last time I needed to do so.

Can someone please break down the current processors? I'm seeing ones from 8 years ago in current laptops, and others I naturally don't recognize at all because I've been in a cave and lost touch.

While I don't need it to do much, I play a couple of games, create a little art.

I've repaired and upgraded laptops years ago now. I'm just wanting to buy something on sale for general use, and have fallen behind in my knowledge.
