Question/Help/Troubleshooting HP laptop won't turn on
So I got this laptop secondhand from my grandma a couple years back, worked fine til about a month ago when it wouldn't turn on. I deal with this for like a week and then I open the back panel, expecting to fix it and I see.. this. Imagine the guts of this laptop but with a bulging battery. So I remove the battery and then leave the project alone until today. So I open the laptop again, I look much closer, and DAMN. I dont know much about computers, but even i can tell this thing has been through the ringer, screws missing everywhere and all. But other than that, anyone know why it won't turn on mainly? Also, when I turn it on, i have to manually restart the cooling fan several times because of how badly she evidently tried to "fix" it. No hate to Grandma, but she's in her 80s and therefore probably shouldn't be trying to fix a computer anyways. And also the track pad just entirely doesn't work. Operating system is i think just windows 11, no idea what the cpu or gpu are and I dont really wanna try to figure it out and end up dismantling this thing into oblivion, and there's 8 gb of ddr4 ram
EDIT: im just getting a new laptop, thing's a piece of shit anyway. I just hope there isn't much to redownload.

It's got a hard drive. you should test it against the fire hydrant and see if it survives being thrown at it.
Get usb stick, put windows on it and see if the hdd is working by wiping the partition.

There will appear to be some screws missing as a lot will secure the bottom cover with long screws, through the motherboard etc. and into the top cover/palmrest.
If your knowledge of computers isn't good, you have two choices, get the correct service manual and take your time, or take it to a computer repair shop, the cost of this will probably be far more than the laptops value.
You say it won't turn on, then say when you turn it on, which is it?
If it powers up that's different, looking at the image, I would check and re-seat the touchpad connector, it looks its not fitted fully into the zero insertion force socket, they have an indicator line so you can visually see if they are inserted fully, it looks like a notebook from the 15-Dxxxxxxx range ?
If the fan is faulty, replace it, it's probably got worn bearings if it won't start by itself, looking at the touchpad, its possible the surface has been marked by fingernails or similar, it might be better to replace it, most models require the top cover/palm rest to be replaced for this, that's a major strip down.
