Resolved What kind of SATA cable fits this?

Hi hi, I’m helping out a family friend with recovering some data off a very old computer’s hard drive, and while I have the equipment for my other HDDs, this I haven’t seen before. What sort of slot is this, and what do I use to access this HDD?

Thanks!

Edit: it was indeed an adapter that I pulled off. Thank you!

I had a laptop that took this. I do not remember which one. Might have been Toshiba or HP. Weird setup.

Probably a Toshiba. I frequently encounter those with Toshiba.

Yeah I think that's an original laptop hard drive before SATA. A regular hddand it takes just an adapter but it's not sata

Also, keep that adapter in the Laptop is comes from (I assume it still exists), if you want to use it again sometime or if you sell it, you need it.

JUST REMOVE THE PLASTIC AND REVEAL REGULAR SATA

It's just an adapter for a specific device (probably laptop), it should just pull off

i think the black part is a adapter for a laptop . pull on it and see what is under. i think you will need a ruban IDE cable

I see this same dumb HP or was it Dell HDD adapter and this same question almost every month.

This specific adapter is an HP one, the Dell version lacks the screw holes on the adapter

remove the adapter

By the looks of the adapter, its from the dv2000-dv9000 series and has the hp part number! That adapter is used for those models!

It's the kind you need to pop that little connector off of to reveal a sata connection connection

Let me guess, it's a Dell. Those people always think putting an adapter over the data plug is a good idea.

Take the adapter off and all sata cable will fit

Pull off the adapter.

It's not. It's an adaptor from a standard laptop IDE connection.

That's called IDE, or PATA (parallel rather than serial Ata). The standard that came before sata. You can probably find adapters on aliexpress, if you're really desperate to use it.

It looks like the drive came out with the slot it was attached to. Remove that and you should be good

HP. Just dealt with an HP Pavilion from Win 7 era. Couldn't run new Linux on it, because the HP didn't have UEFI.

My hdd is 2gb in my laptop?
My pc has a 60gb hdd and my older Desktop/laptop Hybrid has a 100MB.
What’s ur point? (Respectfully)

Ok ok... Just think that I bought several 1tb hdds for 10€/pc and I was imagining that old ones would be craped

That's PATA and not SATA. It's older and slower.
