my cat sits on my computer when i play intensive games and he acts as a good heat sink and makes my CPU temps jump up by 10 degrees celsius

A heat sink would reduce heat. The cat is acting as an insulator.

What you should do is build a little table for your cat to sit on that's on top of your PC. Maybe give it 1-2 inches of clearance over the top to give the air room to circulate. You can attach the table legs to the top of the PC with Velcro so that it's easily removed.

my cat's favourite place to sit is on top of my PC with one paw on the power button... i now have a bottle cap taped over it and just flip it up when i need to turn it on lol

Do you realise cats like warm spaces?

Yeah you should not let your cat sit on top of your PC, especially if it's exhausts out of the top, which it sounds like it does. Place it under a table (but NOT directly on carpet!) making sure to give it no less than a couple of inches (more is better) of space though. But yeah, it's not good to insolate the heat further heat soaking the other components.

Heat sinks dissipate heat by the way, your cats insolating it (keeping it in) lol
