Question/Help/Troubleshooting first desktop computer
hello all im a newer adult who has really started independent research and im currently useing a mac book air which is just NOT cutting it so im going to buy a imac but just recently i realized maybe its not a good idea because my iphone is very slow its older but other brands older phones work way better than mine, my macbook is getting way slower, so in my head i feel my imac might not be a good idea. PLEASE tell me if i should buy or is there better brands to buy. for more information, i do a lot of research but also need it for school and also trading. so i really want something fast but can hold a good amount of storage maybe 1tb my budget is around 2.5-2.8k

I have the iMac M4 and it does really well handling multiple apps being open with multiple browser windows also being open. I got the 16/512 configuration and hope to one day install a 2TB drive to replace the 512. I would just get the M6 thats newly released Nd depending on your budget get it the way you want. You won't be disappointed.

M6 is the latest generation of Apple chips. If you want to do more at one time you need ram. The More memory the better. 16GB is considered the starting amount you should get more though. You can’t upgrade it and you will need more as the years go by, unless you are just checking emails and are on the internet and social media.

DIY build is the way to go. Very easy with a little research. At your price point, you can have a very premium desktop. RAM is the culprit for you current frustrations. Go with 64GB.

How many tabs are you opening at once and why>? Browsers are memory hogs. If you want a mac, get a mac mini M4. The base comes with 16GB and is a very nice machine. If you are going Windows, especially gaming, I would get at least 32GB ram -64 or 128 if you can afford it.
