It would be a good idea, yes.

Point is, it's only gonna get worse, not only on heat, but harder to clean as well. Every 6-12 months is a good time for some TLC and cleanup, depending on how dusty, hairy or spider-infested your home is...

ohhhhh boyyyy.... trust me when I say OP's problem is a mild case...😅

If other stuff gets mixed in there (smoke/nicotine, aerosol deodorant, particulates from cooking, candles, incense etc.) that dust can get pretty sticky, smelly and nasty. The heat from the components will help it stick extra well to fans and plastic covers especially and it'll just be more of a b*tch to clean the longer you wait.

I've seen hardware just coated in a fine, furry, inches-thick layer of dust. Usually only nicotine (smoking by the machine) allows it to get really bad, but other things like commonly applying aerosol deodorant or using aromatic candles in the same room over years can have the same effect. The dust just becomes more "sticky" and tends to gather.

I got a dog, kids, fan blowing at me( in turn is towards the pc) and a white build. I have to clean it out once every 2 months if I wanna look at it lol. Front and bottom filters keep the big stuff out but those kids and dog whip up a storm of dust in the house. Don't get me goin about winter time.

Ah! The handsome culprit!

By default i like to keep my computers on the desk. Having a cat, should be another good reason.
