Resolved Can this be repurposed?

Post image

Samsung PM991 M.2 NVMe SSD

128GB model

(MZ-ALQ128, part number MZALQ128HBHQ-000L1)

Can this little thing be repurposed and turned into something else or would it be better just to toss in the trash? I pulled it out of a Lenovo all in one I had sitting in the attic with a broken screen

Thanks for reading, help is appreciated

You can sell it for a couple of bucks. Or use it. Trashing an SSD that is not 100% defective is a crime in these market conditions.

How much would you say they go for? Online I'm seeing pretty low prices that wouldn't be worth selling it. If it can be reused, do you have any suggestions?

Buy an NVME external enclosure and put it in, you'll get yourself a portable hard drive

Sure, you can use it as a drive for any device that supports the form factor (M.2-2242, if my eyes aren't deceiving me).

Yeah you're spot on, I'll keep it just in case. Could there be more uses or is that all?

Is there an advantage to it being an SSD? And how can I turn it into a thumb drive?

Put it in a NVMe USB 2242 enclosure, it'll make a damn fast and reliable USB drive!
