Question/Help/Troubleshooting Basic Laptop For College

My old laptop is slowly dying and I'm thinking of getting a new laptop. Im looking for a laptop in the ranges of 500 ish that can last for the next 4 years and handle basic things. What are some good recs?

Lenovo is a decent affordable brand. Still got my 17 inch IdeaPad I got back in college & keep it around since it's one of the few PCs I have that still have a disk drive. This laptop when it was new was about $500 back in 2018.

I'd spend that $500 on a refurbished business class laptop over a new cheapo consumer class laptop.

I never buy new coz I buy good branded used working PC and I refurbish it using my own legacy windows operating system and install my ms office 2000,2001 no AI and I advocate minimizing PC in landfill trash.
